ATI Decline?
I have couldn't get a friend into my company and now he's looking elsewhere. His goal is the ACMI world for the longer off and on schedule (East Coast, major airport based, regional guy). I know of the problems at Atlas, but I called friends over at ATI to see if they are hiring. They have been there 2 and 5 years and basically told me to recommend elsewhere, especially with the current market. Honestly, one of them is very vocal and always has something negative to say about anything, but the second friend, he couldn't have been happier to get with ATI, but his honeymood is over. Both said they are moving on as soon as they get a call.
I just wanted to put feelers out there, is ATI still worth the wait?
How bad are things there?
And just curious what happened

The holding company itself is making some serious logistical/maintenance acquisitions, though - not that it matters to a pilot. I'd say K4 and GT are the "go to" places at the moment; which is funny because 5 years ago it was the other way around. Just goes to show you how fickle this industry can be.
The recent acquisition of A330 feedstock by the parent company would indicate A330s are in the future for all 3 airline units, but nothing definitive has been presented (and rumors indicate that they've been shopping those frames to outside parties).
I'm not a betting man, but there are probably odds on it ebbing/flowing back towards ATI/ABX/Omni (from a pilot standpoint) - I just don't know if they're good odds.

I’m here at K4 and that where his first choice was, but something in the screening prevented him from getting an interview. He told me he had multiple failures, but I didn’t ask beyond that.
Atlas might be a good fallback since ATI seems like they are falling down. It is a crazy world this ACMI.

This is true. I have a friend who’s basically untouchable. Multiple failures in his past. Fired from K4 years ago and currently right seat on the whale at a non-union. Hates life there. Can’t get a call. Atlas is desperate for pilots but after 3591, not that desperate.

If there are failures beyond early failures like a PPL checkride I think it has tightened up a bit.
That said, pilots family on 3591 is suing Amazon and others.
"Amazon is also facing action for negligence for leasing an aircraft that was not maintained properly, saying: “Amazon knew or reasonably should have foreseen that the failure to exercise reasonable care in the maintenance and use of the aircraft, including ensuring its airworthiness, created a broad zone of risk that posed a general threat of harm to occupants of the subject aircraft.”"
F&E is accused of breaching its duties by failing to service, maintain, repair, modify, test and inspect the aircraft and make sure it was safe to fly.
Flightstar is facing action, with the lawsuit saying it should have known that if the aircraft was not properly maintained, there would be an “unreasonable risk of harm to persons operation, flying, and/or being flown aboard the subject aircraft”.
Not sure how those cases turned out.
