They didn't give me any specifics, but I got the sense that there were going to be positions available in all domiciles. I live in SDF so I'm hoping that is where I end up.
CBeer, Congrats! How long were you swimming?

Due to the MD11 sim situation, there will be no more new hire classes after July.

I find the last one hard to believe since we're short on all fleets.
1. If they do up the 76 order, I could see that finally replacing the 8. The original order was not definitive, but many took the company comments to be they will be used in the intl arena. Extras could replace the 8

2. The FAA Sim Eval folks coming back to eval the sim in a few weeks. Who knows what they will do if it has problems, probably a major rebuild that would be contracted out. Am sure MD-11 sims anywhere are getting the approach from UPS. As often the case, UPS demonstrates penny wise and pound foolish. Typical corporate risk found evrywhere. Oh well.

3.Company dislikes any training during peak. Therefore, a July start is a normal school house target, but then they have been missing that for several years now. Not training center fault, they like line pilots to be back on the line and supervisors become reserves. They can only process what HR is allowed to hire. Not sure who owns that decision.

Congrats -- I'm slated for July 31 as well. Good thing, my legs were getting tired after 8 months in the pool! HR told me also that they're "hiring into all domiciles for the July 31 class." No numbers/type breakdowns though.

Looking forward to getting started. As one of my former aircraft commanders used to say, "No need to frown when there's brown all around!" Of course that was not in the context of UPS, but it works in both cases.

8 months in the pool? Do you think there was anything specific that got you out of the pool? Upgrade, LOR, counting brown trucks? Did you have any contact with HR whilst swimming? Updates to your app?

thanks

I will be joining you CBeer and Buck92 in the July 31st class! Just got the call yesterday from HR completing the 0.1%.

Same info on my end....not to sure what they are hiring into at this point. 17 in the class.

My plan is to drive DTW to SDF on the 30th of July. If anyone knows of another new hire from the DTW area that would like a ride just give a post.

Shining up my workboots for truck day!

August 1st ride-along. Probably the hottest day of the year in Louisville.

Better hot than cold and snowy.
