Scum? No.

Out of touch? I think so.

Pushing his own agenda? Open to debate, but I think the pattern of results since the last contract certainly give credence to the perception.

Recall? As FDD pointed out--he's very well insulated. What boggles my mind is how quickly the elected reps circle the wagons whenever he is called into question by anyone.

The fix?

If you want change--get involved. Run for block rep. Make your voice heard.

Check the Wilson Polling and you will find the numbers......while they invoke some results of leading questions do not reflect your statistic.

Even if I don't agree with some of the decisions he has made, It takes more than one or two items to justify a recall. He has a stronger track record of helping the pilots of this group than he does "$crewing" them. I don't believe he has taken any action that he purposely tried to "$crew" anyone. Any action that he took, I believe he did with earnest intent.

That is not to say I agree with it all, but I believe he is working toward the betterment of our group.

And I am not trying to keep you from expressing your opinion, but it really isn't your call, and you are not privy to all the things that go on here.

Regards,
Wow. You actually bought that argument? Tell me something is going to happen (smokescreen) and ask me if I want to influence it. Sure, how can you argue with that. Had absolutely nothing to do with the MAIN issue, which was that about 70% of FedEx pilots wanted OUR MEC to oppose the change. How clear of a majority opinion does the MEC need to follow our wishes?

They also told us that this was going to happen right now, remember, by Memorial Day? (That was in May) What have they said since to justify their rush to cave in on this fast track legislation? A bunch of crap, that is what that was.

Our MEC sold out the majority of FedEx pilots for the mere addition of language about retroactivity for our over 60 FEs in an ALPA policy statement and press release. Just as empty as Prater's ridiculous claims that we're going to take something back.

I can't believe that you bought into the pitiful rationale that the MEC tried to use (the polling data, that they otherwise ignored) to justify making a unilateral decision in direct opposition from the will of the majority.

Our MEC sold us out. They should all go.

Nightrider: I for one appreciate your sentiments, even if you are an outsider. A recall effort is under way, it will just take time because we have to get the LEC members first. When we get enough rational, independent thinkers on our LECs I am sure a recall of the MEC members will follow.

We have to follow the bylaws and constitution, as convoluted and inane as they may be.

I'm tired of the ALPA bashing. WE are ALPA. And guess what? WE elected these guys. WE voted them in. This same thing has happened over and over, again. At every airline.

Crewforce apathy!! That's what causes this. It would be interesting to see the voter turnout history for block reps here at FedEx. I guarantee the numbers are not very high.

That doesn't mean we should not look at recalling/replacing these guys. Just stop bashing ALPA. Its our own fault. Would we have elected different people if our name was WPA? Wussy Pilot Assoc. I don't think so.

Frt Dog and Falconjet,

Please...Can we at least get the phrasology correct?

Our block reps make up the MEC. They are also elected to the officer positions of their corresponding LEC.

The MEC officers, are elected by the members of the MEC, our block reps.

The thing I have never been able to figure out is what is the purpose of the LECs, other then making sure the junior block reps don't get uppity?

Falconjet, tell the truth. You really don't want "rational, independent thinkers" on the LEC, do you?? Don't you really mean that you want someone to represent YOUR views and thoughts, not their own? or have I been missing something here, these past 6 or 8 months.

No JJ, I want them to respect the MAJORITY'S thoughts, thats whose.

Is that really so hard to accept? Is that really too much to ask? Try to take another look at the issue without your personal beliefs thrown in. Should the MEC have ignored the will of the majority, on ANY issue? And if so, don't you think they should be held accountable, one way or the other (ie good or bad) by the membership? I do. If you don't then so be it.

Again, I am glad you made it, but please don't go busting any blood vessels over my posts, we will likely never see eye to eye. I know you think you know my motivations, but I doubt you do, so yes I think you have been missing some things over the past few months, at least as far as my position goes.

Uh.... thanks. Alot.

I was actually re-reading one of those great novels. The two individuals are so polar, I had never even remotely considered your point.

What to do...what to do. You've ruined those classics, perhaps forever. I'll likely never be able to read the words "David Webb" in those works again without thinking of your post.
