With the plan I'm touting. We kill 2 birds with one stone. We can all still retire at age 60 and less people will want to continue working past age 60. As, they wouldn't be gaining any more retirement benefits. I say we have a poll, on it.

At least, that's the way it should be until I retire at age 60. Then, you can all do whatever you want. Maybe, the retired military guys could work at Fedex for 25...Then, work for another retirement at UPS until they're age 90, or so.
I see your point. I'm all for it. However, I don't see it happening.

No question the company will want the increase in normal retirement age - big time. That will open the door to company-wide retirement age change.

You would think we might have some leverage on this during the next negotiations, since we will have to agree to the change (via vote).

Wait - maybe we don't. The latest ALPA messages seem to be "Well, you thought you had a legally binding contract, but guess again. You think our lawyers just fell off the turnip truck? They know how to create job security. We need to be at the table to get you gullible fools what you thought you already had."

Honestly, it seems the CBA is becoming about as toothless as the FCH was, if what ALPA says is correct, and a unilateral change to 65 for normal retirement age is possible.

What, in the name of God-given seniority rights, are you trying to do?

Instead of this senseless babble, you should be bringing a few dozen warm Krispy Kremes every time you come in to the hub.

Everyone please ignore this. He was not referring to you. Here, have another donut!

Busboy,

Your idea is great. It is fair. I agree, it would kill 2 birds with one stone. I think you should send it to the negotiating committee and the MEC right now so they can start working on putting it in the next contract negotiations.

Please let me know what their response is. The anticipation is killing me.

Yes...in the Senate...not the house. It includes the Obestar amendment, which is basically the ALPA position paper.

What it means to me is this: In the interest of protecting the senior guys and trying to assuage the terrible loss of pensions at pax carriers, they are moving the age 5 years to the ight. Dave Webb lobbied hard (for fairness) to make the age retroactive to "crewmembers actively on a flight deck position". So...the guys who benefit the most will be over 60 guys at a company that was financially solvent all along and still had one of the best if not the best retirement in the industry. Ironic, isn't it?

Remember who supported this. It was the same guys you'll soon see getting bumped for training off the 777 left seat.

Its water under the bridge. Still waiting to hear from HercDriver....tomorrow one of us will announce our intention to run for Block 7 Rep.
