Just remember one has not actually moved back until activated in the new seat. The only thing that happens when a pilot reaches the regulated age is that pay is reduced to the S/O rate. Hmmm?? Pay is reduced on the basis of age alone. Is this in accordance with Federal Law? I wonder how the EEOC would look at that question?
That's why we have the big stink going on about delving into our Disability account. You guys are reaching age 60 and just calling in sick. That way you can just retain your captainship until you run out of sick leave and finish your S/O training. Hoping the change happens first. How many hours in your bank?
Brilliant!!

oops forgot the date.
Between the 7th and 14th for the bid.
George,
I know you don't care about the bid, but the fact that the company doesn't seem to think it's going to happen anytime soom might concern you.
I'd think if it were going to be soon Fred might be getting ready. Of course you probably know more than he does.
Besides I just want my dollar from you. I hope you get to work until your Ex is long gone.

Sounds like the type of plan of the junior class. I would love to be able to compare the use of sick leave between the guys that have been around 25 to 40 years with the average guy with 10-15 years. The way you guys talk most have burnt up most, if not all their sick leave every year. I think that is the real issue about using/abusing disability.

What am I missing here? Seems to me that as long as ALPA is out there sponsoring bills that allow active pilots to come back to the front, not having a big bid with a long training letter helps out the Age 60+ guys not hurt them b/c it gives them more positions to bid back to over the next few years.

It's just not a good business decision for the Company to pay $150k in re-qual cost to bring back the least productive (Highest Paid, most vacation, most sick leave) segment of the crew force for 1-4 years of productive work (minus the above mentioned dead time). $150k x 150 Guys = $22,500,000.00 in re-training costs. Hmmm.....explain that to the stockholders. Not going to happen.........sorry..........someone wake these guys up..........it's time to go fishin'

[QUOTE=Busboy;225172]I get it, now.

I am one of those guys who has a full disability account of 686 hours. No I'm not a hero and fly sick but I do like to fly. One reason it got full was that when the TIGER union worked on the details of the merger I got something like 350 to 400 hours of sick time put in my bank and was with the company 9 months. THE POWER OF A REAL UNION.
So 686 X $245.65= $168,515.90 That is a chunk of change!
And that my friend is mine that I have earned and I'm going to have it one way or another. If the company thinks I'm just gonna give that back to them their dreaming...............
