I hate to burst your bubble, but MOST the Atlas guys have NO desire to come over to UPS and enter as a new hire. I can count on one hand the FO's that I've spoken to in the last year or so that have apps at UPS. There are some of course, but we do not drool every time we see Brown.

Just for your reference, I've been a whale captain for over nine years and I'll bring in around $180K this year. I average 14 days away from home a month. Not implying anything, just giving some numbers.

That 2006 report is old. We've been setting record profits this year, looking for a 15% profit sharing check early next year?

BTW, Atlas is not a bottom feeder, we are the scum floating on top of bottom feeders, get it right!

Realize that one opinion on this web is just that, ONE opinion. Having been with a "bankrupt major" who went through the "proposed seniority integration" that is plaguing another large carrier I understand your view.
Don't let the naysayers get your goat.
There is always a way to take care of "MOST" of the people should the event occur.

There was a subordinate official over in Koln saying that we had a team checking them out right now. Long way from a done deal though.

FlyByCable is probably sitting reserve and bored, thus the antagonizing posts. He is getting a kick out of being who he protrays himself to be.

The funny thing is, his message (yes, there is one buried beneath all of the crap) would provoke thoughtful conversation, but now it is just flamebait.

On the flipside, I read that UPS was trying to buy something like 1/3 of the stock of the PARENT company that owns DHL. So, maybe they're trying to buy/get control of DHL and Atlas all at the same time???

Income for the last four quarters.
Net Income43,185 6,197 45,702 7,082

Yes income last quarter was really nice but I don't think having a 43 Million dollar profit can begin to justify spending Billions on new aircraft. Atlas Holdings has been cutting back its Atlas operation by leasing and selling some of its aircraft to other companies and the DHL contract been helping its bottom line. 2006 report states that they have not been able to come up with financing necessary to buy these aircraft and unless that has changed they will have to sell the contract or come up with some cash. I dont care either way, just reading the financial statements.

Have to agree with you empirically. Have 2 buds at Atlas, offered them a LOR, etc. Have blown me off. They are F/O's and have been there awhile and are as happy as we are here. So you are scum and we are brown ...
<g> I think we are in the same tank <bg>

Given the market for 747s what is to say Atlas just bought the airplanes and options with the intention of selling them with a mark up? This might only apply to part of them but still an option.

I don't think that guys here are really not interested in going to UPS (I'm young and would consider the move), but many people are aware of the UPS first year pay and can't honestly afford the pay cut. I've been here (Atlas) for 9 years and enjoy pretty good quality of life, working only 9 to 13 days a month.

Come on CLiff, that's ridiculous. UPS is not looking to buy a third of DHL!! DHL is a lot larger than UPS. That's like saying the Yankees are looking to buy the Red Sox.
