MEC Msg (Getting Interesting FDA/Bid)
#61
I don't see how the Company can legally (in relation to the CBA) offer to pay protect a 727 LCA with WB pay if they bid 757. Technically, wouldn't they have to bid and be awarded 757, then in a subsequent bid, bid and be awarded WB Capt to be given WB passover pay while holding 757? I do believe that it is a legitimate scenario, but should be part of the CBA in order to accomplish on the part of the Company.
That is why the CBA doesn't handle this situation perfectly. It will take some good negotiating to get this thing right. And I don't mean to choke the golden goose. Just to entice the right people to do the right job at the right price.

You're right. I'm with you. I just wanted to add I don't blame anyone for how this particular negotiation is going. It is unusual for us and I'm sure the bean counters are under pressure to assume a certain cost. They are starting to get educated.

So if they have to hire directly into the FDA's, seems like they could never furlough because the FDA's would always be junior and they can't force anyone to go. If they hire 50 to the FDA's and later furlough 200, the FDA's aren't manned, and no one could be forced to go over. Seems like this would make the company unhappy. Am I off base?

Funny that the MEC changes it's beat about working with the company over 500 lbs.
OR is on record saying, "the 777 pay rates will have to be negotiated." When asked if it will be the A380 rate..."(chuckle) I doubt that."
So the MEC hands over this LOA in 'good faith' and spends thier time clipping press releases on the A380/777 swap.
This chest pounding I guess might be their 'leverage' to negotiate that 777 payrate for ALL of us?
