I know you think FDX pilots (have) done you wrong, re: your negotiations, still, if I could add.........
Most posts from your "group" on this BB point to money as the thing your looking to get from UPS. I here about the "other stuff" but money seems to be the big issue. Most of your complaints are not money issues. I know you can't make anyone like you or respect you, but you sure can contractually limit what they can do to make your QOL less pleasant. Phone calls in the middle of the night, no cost to the company to limit them. Somethings would cost some money but (IMHO) would greatly improve the way you interface with Brown.
I hope we can all put this behind us soon. I just don't think that money (no matter how much) is going to improve morale at your place. I don't thank you can buy/negotiate/beg for, respect, it has to come from above. But you sure can demand to be treated (contractually) like someone who is. I wish you the best.

The problem for FedEx alpa is that since they asked for so little in pay, they have little to trade off to get the things they said they wanted in their surveys. You are not going to get what you want in scheduling, scope, retirement, etc. without something to trade with the company.

We just wish you guy's would get your new contract with the big hourly so we could vote down our crappy TA and tell them we want the UPS deal!

dckozak,
Thanks for your comments. I hope as you do that we can just get this behind us. The thing about UPS is this. No matter what we get in our contract, this company will violate any contract language if they want to and take you to task on what issue you have and spend ALOT of money to break your will. They absolutly do not respect us as a pilot group nor do they consider us to be a valid contributer to the org. Were just truck drivers to them...

As far as getting the contract done, I hate to say it again, but we were REALLY close before FedEx ALPA came out with their "openers." Hell, the NMB mediator even came to SDF to dot the "i's" and Cross the "T's" and the company came into the meeting with a copy of your "openers" document. Since then, things have been going very slow...

Have you guys/gals ever been anywhere else?

For anyone who wants kumbaya 24/7, SWA is the only place to go. With at least 15 friends at SWA, I can say even that is changing. The grass isn't always greener on the other side.

L'il J,
Did you move to SDF?

I agree. SHOW ME THE MONEY! If the company hates me....I really don't care. I just do my job and go home. I don't answer my phone when the co. calls when I am off. The places that I have been, it's all the same bull$hit as at UPS, without any of the bennies.

-8 day trip that turns into 15 days a day before you are due to head home.
-very very low pay
-CS calling you in your hotel room after 8 hours and 1 minute of rest to tell you of a change in the trip. Of a trip put on your line that goes in two weeks, or the famouse one, "You are extanded!"
-CS calling you house looking for you(when you are a trip) and your wife telling them you are on a trip and they tell her no he should be home.
-Getting put in the middle seat on a 10 hour commerical flight to whereever. Or better yet, going to the airport to commerical home and findning out you ticket is stand-by on a flight that is over booked. You ticket has not been paid for.
-Getting to the hotel you are told you will stay at and there are no rooms!!

I can go on, but I need to get back to my painting!
Just to back up Browntail
I don't know who you work for but.............................
Switching or trading jobs in this industry isn't an option even if one wanted to do it! ( I assume you were being facitious)

All these things happen a FedEx too and on a monthly basis!
That is one of the things we are trying to fix in our new contract!

This isn't intended to Bash South West........................................

As soon as all the Big Boys finish chainsawing their collective bargined agreements through the bankruptcy courts they will have cost structures at or below Southwest's......................

It might take a year or two but when they do...............all bets are off.
