7. A pilot assigned to occupy a crew seat in support of another pilot's training session/check ride/qualification event is not required to participate in the ground evaluation administered by the instructor during the pre-simulator briefing. The assigned pilot shall satisfy the performance standards required by his crew status. Should the pilot flying seat support encounter any significant performance issues that require training (other than debrief), prior to his return to line flying, his case shall be referred to the TRB. A pilot shall not incur a training failure while occupying a seat in support of another pilot's training.

Although as a junior guy, I dislike the idea of doing an indefinite amount of sims each month as support, with the threat of a TRB if I had a bad day. My worry is having the sim for my checkride, with a support pilot that is not very current coming off reserve, with the notion of sleeping thru it to just get it done with... and then having a bad day. I haven't been here long enough to be too educated on the subject, but it appears nice to have either a flex support pilot or someone doing the same checkride backing you up and vice versa. You can't guarantee good backup with a reserve guy with little vested interest in the outcome.

Nice vote of confidence in your fellow crewmember. Guess there's no benefit of the doubt there at all. About what you might expect from one who migrates between cell membranes.

"Vote of confidence in your fellow crewmember"?
You're not serious...Did you forget the sarcasm smilie?
What? Do you think that reserves are going to start studying/refreshing, for a sim check, a couple weeks ahead of their reserve days?
I agree with Osmosis. Completely.

I agree with Os and BB; heck sometimes another line guy you're paired with isn't quite as prepared as you hope, but at least he's flying on a regular basis. If an R guy who flies 2-3 days a month, like some have boasted, you may be in for a rough go of it.

However, the contract allows this, and always has been an option since I got here in 90. If you ask me, if they decide to "push" the issue on RSV's filling sim seats, they're begging the question. Sure, we do our best all the time, right? But I have a sneaking suspicion that the reliability of getting Mister Reserve A+ into the sim, without a glich, without a "cough", ... well, let's just say I have my doubts.
