2. How, exactly, is a Reserve guy called out for a training event less qualified than anyone else on the Seniority List? How about the professional RFO who can't get his 3 T/O & LNDs in 90 days? Is that better than the reserve guy who flies "3-4 times per month"?
You might just think about that.

Hey Strut -- Maybe I am missing something. Don't we all study a lot for our recurrent training? Don't we all hope that our partner has done the same?? I think the deal is that there is no way a guy on a reserve callout has had the opportunity to do so. So, guys worry about that being their partner. Why is that a big deal?? I worry as much about messing up another guy as I do about myself when I go to training. I wouldn't want to get a short call to support a PC -- not because I am worried about me but the other dude. Of course, I rarely sit reserve so I am getting plenty of sleep.

1. I didn't think icons were necessary to indicate what was apparent.

All you're doing is lowering the bar even further, with your RFO question.
So, let me see if I understand. You would just as soon go through your PC, with a guy called out from reserve...Rather than have a current line holder flex guy, in the other seat, getting his check ride?
I've been through enough rides to know that there is an enormous difference between guys that have studied for their ride. And, guys that have not.
But, I like your utopian view of our crewforce. Very refreshing.

Not trying to lower the bar, just using the absurd analogy to make a point. I wouldn't want to be called on reserve for a training event, wouldn't wish it on anyone and am not advocating the practice. Yes, there are those who show up for training ready to be spoon fed, but they're the minority. Automatically assuming a reserve pilot (or anyone for that matter) is going to be a load isn't right.

Gee, now I'm all conflicted.....
I should fear the guy called in from Reserve to sit in my right seat for a sim check cause he might not have studied and might not have flown but a couple of times all month.
But I should welcome the same guy into my right seat in a real airplane with real weather and real threats to my safety and no freeze button and the potential for an FAA violation.
Choices, choices, choices...
