"geezers"- love that comment from a probie.
also love to read posts on here as well as other boards from new-hires that have it all figured out- got the big picture- they're just tired of waiting for the contract-- how much longer on probation? chill out and get me a bottle of water.

I've learned not to do that, but it would be nice to know what they have in store for us poolies (if anything at all).

What are you basing the "high 40's" on? Brown would just as soon keep the pay at 26k and I for one am not willing to concede end year pay to raise the probationary pay. UPS should raise the pay to attract higher quality candidates (keep them from FDX and SWA) but that is purely a function of mgmt deciding what probationary pay should be.

Stuff
This is a good point. If there were not 10000-12000 applicants with resumes on file waiting to work at UPS with a smile on their face all for 26K/year, then I would say 1st year pay would be raised. But supply and demand says it will stay where it currently is.

A few months ago the IPA put a synopsis of the current company positions regarding the various contract items. The IPA states that the company offered a 3% raise and an increase of 1000% in out of pocket medical insurance deductions. They also reported that UPS had offered a 25% raise for probationary pay and that would have made it around 34k. That was their opening position.
As far as raising it to attract the best applicants!!?? LMAO. Have you not interacted with the new hires or read their backgrounds? We are getting the best applicants. I turned down SWA to stay and I know others that have as well. Just because a few have left for FedEx does not mean it is a more attractive job. Many of us know why UPS is a much better place to get hired than FedEx or SWA.

It sure looks like the IPA is getting its arse kicked by the FAA and UPS. But as long as we remain united the company will cave. It will take the eve of the strike to get what we (you) deserve.
