Confirmation?

Can anyone else confirm this is legit?
I was starting an 8 day stretch of RA today Saturday - 26 Apr.
Assigned a 2 day trip off first fly and notified Friday morning - about 14 hours prior to show.
Commuted in on a Fedex JS that met all "no harm-no foul" criteria. JS aircraft diverts to TUL and I miss my trip.
Skeds puts me down for a no-show and says I need to sort it out with my ACP (makes sense - let the ACP ensure all criteria for NH-NF commute IAW contract is met).
However, since the trip I missed had a 2-day footprint(Sat/Sun), I now have taken a hit for the whole 9:30 CH and am not on reserve for Sunday. This seems a bit harsh. I can see taking the hit for the R-day I missed, but now I'm in position for Sunday. I'm in MEM ready to fly and not getting paid.
Mixing trips with R-days doesn't work. I tried to fix things by picking up a 2 day Sat pm to Sunday that would have helped me make up some of the shortfall but now it won't let me because of the 1 in 7 cause by the rest of my R-days.
DO says she can't help because no operational emergency declared. ACP will not answer emails, office calls or cell phone messages.
Bottom line, I'm out 10-ish hours at the end of the month with no way to make up the shortfall. Good thing (thanks for fuel sense) we didn't add a couple of grand more gas on that jumpseat leg, I'll bet 30 minutes more of hold would have been cheaper than the divert x5 into TUL - either way, I think I just helped pay for it.

I've wondered for some time about that situation and other similar ones. As I read about your situation, I wondered if you were considered a "line holder" with a hard trip or a "Reserve" pilot and does the NH-NF policy even apply in a reserve status (I was never sure that it did?)?
Please let us know how it turns out ...

Call CRS and see if they'll move one of your R-days from later in the month to fill that 2nd r-day that you lossed(Sunday?). They might balk, since it's inside the assignment window, but do you best to sell the sob story.
Then try to get your ACP to add the R-day back to the end of your string, since you did everything you could to help the company out.
If they won't help you, then become a non-compliant, militant, company hating person that is caused by treating your employees like dirt.

The contract does not differentiate between lineholders and reserve. It just references commuting in for a trip, so in this case I think I'm covered. I was assigned the trip well in advance and I'm no different than a lineholder.
If I had just been commuting in to start reserve, with no trip assigned
(
I never do that) and been out of position for a short notice trip assignment - I think I would be in trouble.

You are covered under the J/S policy as long as you meet the 13:30 and 1:30 turn time limits.

Got an ACP to respond (not mine but at least someone in the know).
Basically, it's as the last guy said. I'm covered for the missed trip IAW the contract and JS policy since all criteria were met.
I still get hit for the CH of the trip and lost the R days under the trip footprint. A secondary loss is the most likely 1 in 7 day off I would have had next weekend. It's gone too since I no longer have more than 7 R days in a row.
Yes, the hours go into my make up bank but I don't see that as any real positive in this particular situation. I've already got over 200 hours in the m/u bank. Today and tomorrow are lost days w/o pay (since I commute) and the fact that I can use up additional days off in the future to make up for them paywise isn't much consolation.
Boo Hoo - poor me. I guess a couple of days in the crash pad drinking margaritas with no pay is hardly as bad as what some of our brothers at the pax airlines are dealing with. Maybe someday I'll deplete this m/u bank and then a few extra hours in it will mean more than it does now.
Thanks for the responses.

I believe it was handled correctly by CRS, they can't drop part of a trip from your schedule, in essence it is like you are treated for a sick call on reserve. If you call in well on the 2nd day of a six day R day string but they assigned you a 4 day trip lost to sick on days 1-4, you are not on the hook until the lost sick trip is completed, correct ?

X 2! Got to remember, no harm, no foul AND no pay. If the trip had been on your line, you would have had the trip dropped from your sked and you would have recieved no pay - ie. its deducted from your BLG. Sounds time to me they got it right. The big issue would be discipline, you SHOULD be immune. Let us know what happens.
So, yes - they got it right but there are additional implications that affect the unique situation of us lowly reserves. Like I said, it could be worse. At least I've got a window seat in this day and age of near deads scarfing them up.
Cheers.

Yes, I was/am immune from discipline. Unfortunately, as a reserve guy I get an extra screw job other than the loss of pay for that trip (which is fair). I couldn't pick up a trip with a similar footprint to the one I missed because of the 1 in 7 issues created by my remaining R days. If I had been a line holder scheduled to work over those days, I would have been able to pick up a trip on the same days w/o the 1 in 7 issue.

It was a Fri night and no trips in OT that weekend while I hung around MEM trying/hoping to pick something up. The worst thing was watching the crew walk back in about an hour after the sked departure due to an ATB for a fire warning on #2 eng. I also got to watch the dual seat qual'd flex Capt that had gotten my trip on DFT go home with pay at 150% instead of operating my 3 day trip!
