Av8or,

remember two things. 1st. The Lines will change. 2nd. What is a small problem now, will be a big problem in the future.

Me, I move to ANC to fly the Whale. But I have a big problem with the long nights. The cold you can dress for, but do nothing about the nights.

What is you want?? The chance to fly the 400 or the money?? And before I say good luck. You are locked for TWO years. And nothing says you will get out in two years either.

I decided to hang around ONT for a while. I changed my preferences to CGN KA (Kapitän) followed by PVG JI (Jīzhng - 机长 ).

Ontario GM (Gear Monkey) is my choice number 3, so I think I’ll stay in ONT for now. While I’m waiting for the Shanghai domicile to open up I’ll just keep studying Mandarin – one day it’ll come to use…

I'll just start up a t-shirt business and might even work part time as a Wal-Mart greeter... That should keep me busy for a while...

I feel ya about dealing with the cold however as far as the “long nights?…”

What latitude is Anchorage at? Does N61º or so sound about right? Well, I’m a N67º ‘survivor’ so long nights probably wouldn’t bother me too much...

Heck, to me everyone who’s an Anchorage native is a Southerner…

If you had stapled baloney to your face, you wouldn't have that problem.

Anyone have a notion when any bids for next year's 767-300 will be run. And where they might be based.

Off to office max to pick up more staples.

Heard from an ACP that we'll be getting three of them next year and they'll be going to "Z."

I try to stay away from baloney but I keep coming back to this message board – I must be addicted...

I was thinking I would staple a moose-knuckle to my face. FliFast - you in ANC around 17-23 July? PM me if you are.

I can tell you that I’m not the only one who’s considering bidding ANC versus being permanent ONT reserve...
Well its all what you make of it. For me, I would rather not fly and be doing all of those things I talked about, even as a commuter. But that may not interest you and thats OK. I'm a bit tired of building my multi engine jet time. I dont think I'll ever get hired by a legacy carrier, so I dont need to build any more time. My poor old mother (bless her heart) still asks me if I ever want to be a commercial pilot. She says you have to go for your dreams! LOL!! I've tried to explain it to no avail. I had to disappoint her. Should have told her that I play piano in a brothel.

I keep telling mine that very soon I'll have enough flight time to apply with a REAL airline.

As far as ONT reserve - I'm sure I'd have more fun as a piano player in a brothel but until I've gotten hired at a reputable house of play I'll just stick to Red Roof racing...

Some over 75 over trips are just starting to happen but it is far from the norm. Adding up the higher costs I doubt you could come up with extra tickets especially in light of all the airlines raising airfares.

Anybody who would bid ANC when they could bid a flying seat in the lower 48 is just plain nuts. Good luck with the commute, every flight I've taken has been full and the crash pads and b&B are getting the same way. You can count on at least 4 commutes a month if you are lucky and every airline is cutting flights, on and off season to ANC (UA and F9 are examples). Alaska airlines winter Sch is 25% less (SEA and PDX to ANC) then last winter since their MD's will be parked 6 months early (Aug 30)(Just off the presses) and more to come. Also keep in mind over at FedEx the over 60 crowd are taking seats in ANC and those Fed Ex guys who live up thier are now starting to reverse commute so you can forget about that angle (strait from my reserve unit that is 1/2 Fed ex guys). If you really want to have an idea, if UPS has such a thing, call Jeff in long range trip planning and he will be happy to tell you what you see is what you can expect and the DXB and CGN rumor is just that, and also no SYD. Don't expect longer trips (longer than the ONT, HNL, HKG, ANC), but just more of the same. Plus add the 2 year seat lock and when the DHL deal comes down you miss the boat. As stated by the union this will "take 2 years to get up 100%. Just plain nuts, nuts, nuts pass the meds amen
