Ditto. You can have a pretty damned good time sitting RSVA in ONT. Get a nice pad (probably alot cheaper than 15 nights at the R.R.) a mountian bike, some skis or a snowboard, and a surf board. You then have basically unlimited fun things to do while on reserve. You can surf Huntington, Trestles, San O an hour drive for the summer south swells, or even a day trip to the world class right point break at Rincon. Then you can catch the good winter swell in SAN county 1.5 hrs away, then drive back and up the hill to strap on the snowboard for the rest of the day. Surfing and snowboarding in the same day, you cant do that in SDF, or even ANC. Well I guess you could do it ANC, but surfing in the dark is difficult and the 38 degree water is a little chilly.

Hiking, trail running, mtn biking is 20 minutes away from ONT. Just get the hell out of town and have some fun, its not like youhave anything else on your sh1t to do list.

Better yet, get a dirt bike too, desert riding season will here soon enough as well and there is fantastic dirt bike or mountain bike riding just right up the hill at Big Bear or around Glen Helen. If your into MX dont forget the world class pro tracks at Glen Helen and Elsinore, then theres Starwood, Cahullia, etc.

Oh yeah, also forgot about rock climbing, great bouldering and climbing at Joshua Tree and Taquitz/Suicide just up the hill from Hemet. Price of admission is simply some climbing shoes and chalk bag.

However, if you dont like doing that kind of stuff your pretty much screwed. But it sure beats the heck out of having to fly base trip lines the rest of your life.

Now sitting reserve in SDF, thats a whole nother Oprah. I'd rather staple baloney to my face.........

LOL...........Now thats funny. I think I would use turkey, so I can pick at my face while watching a couple of DVDs.

Av8or, go get a crashpad. At least you'll have people to talk to. Many hours alone in a hotel, you could go Ted Bundy.

Good luck with your decision.
Some but not all crewmembers awarded ANC 747-400 FO vacancies will be entitled to paid moves. You will be entitled to a paid move if you are awarded one of the 30 ORIGINAL ANC 747-400 FO vacancies. You will not be entitled to a paid move if awarded a RECURRED ANC 747-400 FO vacancy accordingly. However, if awarded an ANC 747-400 Captain or FO position or an ANC MD-11 Captain or FO position, you are entitled to a paid move if you sign the documents offered in Letters of Agreement 06-04 and 08-01.

I dont know about all that because I didnt really look at that aspect. HOWEVER, if you are DISPLACED you get door number 1, which is a pretty decent deal all things considered...........

That language in my previous post has been in the last few IPNN updates about this open bid ... FWIW.

Not if you are trying to sell a house in this market ! Two showings in a month ... If JC himself came down off the cross, he couldn't sell a house in this market !

Its only a decent deal if you can sell/buy and complete a move in a year ... I am beginning to wonder.

Now if UPS had to buy my house in 90 days like they do for the "other side", it would be a good deal.

Talking Ont Rsva

Very familiar with reserve in ONT as I hardly flew before when I was on it.
For those who live there it’s great but for those of us who commute it sux!
I can tell you that I’m not the only one who’s considering bidding ANC versus being permanent ONT reserve...

Heck I’ve spent numerous 2-week periods at sunny Red Roof and I have a t-shirt to prove it…

In the past I was able to hold VTO lines which most of the time turned into Pac Rim trips which is what I like the most. One commute a month, great override pay and per diem was nice too. Now it looks like I’ll be back to reserve for years to come thanks to the senior pilots being “fair” to us, junior guys...

If you add up the cost of a crashpad, an airport car, loss of override pay/per diem and getting paid for 75 hours versus say ~80-85 (which seems to be the norm on many ANC lines) you come up with at least 1 maybe even 2 round trip tickets to/from ANC.
If I were to commute once, or maybe twice a month to ANC and back I’d bid it in a heartbeat. Still looking at the bid packets…

Remember, your so called SoCal vacation looks very different through the Red Roof windows…

Before you suggest it - no plans on moving to the Socialist Republic of Pelosifornia either… ; )

Wannabe,

I agree with your logic. I highly suggest bidding ANC.....I'm sure it will be better there for you. Good luck!

AV8OR,

Can you recommend a good computer repair place? Coffee shot out of my nose onto the keyboard when I saw your t-shirt. NOW THAT is funny!
