Not to be the "negative" influence, but at the last hub turn meeting, DW stated that the company is NOT interested in "early retirements." Just because it is in the contract, does not mean that it will be offered. FDX will not pay to have guys sitting around, collecting a salary, and not working. FWIW, early retirements costs a company quite a bit of money, i.e., working up a "package" and/or incentive, paying for that incentive, etc.
Do not count on this clause in the contract.

The Company may, at its option, elect to avoid or mitigate a furlough by offering pilots or a specific group of pilots (using age or seniority, unless the Association consents to an alternate selection criteria) voluntary early retirement and/or severance package. If made to a specific group of pilots, any offer shall be made on a uniform and non-discriminatory basis. The Company shall notify, meet and consult with the Association prior to making any offer pursuant to this paragraph.

That mouse would look really good on the #11 car too.

The company is also not interested in buying hundreds of houses in this market or the absurd training costs of a year+ long training letter. Maybe an early retirement package is more attractive to them than it was prior to the first practice bid. What is the man behind the curtain doing?

I mentioned in a previous post that all of this would eventually make a liar out of PC and that we're going to furlough. While I repeatedly hear about how good FDX does in positioning itself for financial success, the recent shenanigans of flight management make me worried. They're not exactly instilling a whole lot of confidence.
On another note, ND's: GO AWAY. I realize that you are legally allowed to continue your career. I'm also legally allowed to think you're a complete a**hat for doing so with furloughs on the horizon. You are part of the problem.

They are negotiating 777 payrates, and the weaker they can make the union position, the better they fare in the long run.

One of the Flex's this morning was talking about one of the more notorious NDs and "What a nice guys he is"
A nice guy (who is divorced and been here over 30 years)who's passing on his 125K a year retirement to fly for less than 2 years in the Left seat for 225K (Maybe with the BLGs) putting a guy with a wife and kid on the street who more than likely came over from the corporate side or had another secure job to what was at the time the "most secure airline job"
The biggest impression from recurrent is that O only knows what PC tells him. For him to spend 30 minutes explaining how (with lots of powerpoint slides) the excess were designed to store 200 or so pilots in the lowest paying seats only to have this thing canceled 2 days later lends credence as to why he stated he has not written anything to the crew force lately. It changes so fast by the time he'd write it it'd be wrong. Or he only finds out things after PC posts them on pilot.fedex
