Default 48/60 Blg

"The minimum Bid Period Guarantee shall be reduced to a minimum of 48/60 CH before any pilot is furloughed. At least a full bid period must follow the announcement of this action. This provision shall only be used to prevent or delay a furlough."

As we may be preparing to see this provision invoked, here are a couple questions. Once BLG is reduced and furloughs happen, does the BLG re-adjust back up to 68 or some other credit hour number? When Peak hits, will the company be offering advanced volunteer, vacation cancellations etc.?

If the BLGs DO go back up after furlough, I wonder how many of our pilots will be just fine with that. I wonder how many of our pilots are truly prepared financially for a BLG reduction right now.

For me, even though I don't personally know anyone on the bottom of the list, I'm getting ready to suck it up for as long as it takes to get 'em back on the property. 48 hours? Bring it on. I would hope the NDs would see how much more they could make in retirement at that point and just get gone already. Hopefully guys wouldn't be on the street that long.

And, of course, I hope it doesn't EVER come to furloughing guys but my conservative nature makes me prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

THANKS from a bottom of the lister! Nice to hear this as opposed to the POS that stood up in the hub turn meeting and said we should furlough instead of cutting into his high five.

I am with Piloto Noche-
48 hours a piece is better than 0 (zero) for a few. Plus it preserves insurance, vacation accurral, etc.
The chill a furlough casts over the crew force is a huge downer. Ask my UA and F9 friends...........

Working 8 days a month would be sweeeet!

As for the guy upset about his high 5, give him the address to APAAD

Let's assume that we are indeed 500 pilots fat. Some people speculate 300 to 500 so let's go with the bigger number.

500 (pilots) X 884 (yearly basic BLG) = 442,000 pay hours

442,000/12 (mos) = 36833/ hours per month

36833/4776(pilots) = 7.71 BLG reduction from each pilot to prevent a furlough.

We'll see if the all the members will ride this one out with the junior guys or will they simply write a LOA to kill that little paragraph in the CBA.

Only time will tell if the FedEx motto really is "It's all about me" or "united we stand one and all".

As for me, I can take a 7.71 BLG hit per month. I will gladly take this hit to keep everyone on the list in the house.

While I agree, you'll feel the 8 hour reduction in your check, you'll also reap benefits by not dividing this pilot group more than it already has been.

We'll see if the "list" will ride this one out with the junior guys or will they simply write an LOA to kill that little paragraph and send the junior pilots into the worst aviation market we've seen since 9/11.

Time will only tell. I'll just bet the pilot group votes and approves and LOA to save their precious 8 hours per month. Only time will tell if the FedEx motto really is "It's all about me" or "United We Stand One and All".

The good money is on the the "it's all about me" but I can always be optimistic.

Sounds like a deal for the company, 500 pilots working one year and only making $442,000 combined.

leave off the $ signs and it makes sense.

Its not about the money per se, but rather a calculation for hour reduction.

I was confused too!

One of my buddies was talking with a manager in the AOC the day that 08-03 was cancelled and was told that the first thing they are going to go after is getting rid of carryover flying. No specific timeline given on this.

I wouldn't be surprised to see this, then the company limiting/eliminating voluntary flying, then possibly a 5-7 hour drop in BLG's as a last resort. I would GLADLY take the pay cut in order to keep all of our folks on the property!!! Too bad some folks don't feel that way...wonder what it's like to not have a soul or conscience?

I must have missed the answer to the original question...Do BLG's/RLG's stay down at 48 and 60 while folks are on furlough? It would only seem fair that this be the case while folks are on the street looking for some way to provide for their families...Hope it doesn't come to this.

I was editing it as you all were commenting. It now accurately reflects the proper value - HOURS as opposed to DOLLARS.
