I was told we have 30 something in the pool and around the same number approved for the interview whenever they start up again.

This just isn't factual. Besides it assumes they hire for peak.

Look when they need bodies they'll hire.

Facts:
In November and December of 2004 they hired 33 people (two classes), same period 2005 21 people (3 classes), 2006 56 people 3 classes.

Not too much training scheduled right now past October. All MD11 line sim techs going back to the line for November and into peak.

Now don't confuse what's been planned with what will actually happen. For the past few years I've been scheduled to fly the line during peak, only to have them call and drop a crapload of long int'l trips for me to crawl back into the sim and teach. I'm pay protected for the trip drops of course.

Once they can take a guess at staffing req's (DHL, US/China economies, and the merger with purple announced) they'll decide whether to train over peak. Personally, my gut feeling is we don't need to hire much at all for another six months.

Johnny,
I hope Im wrong but if you are an ABX or Astar pilot, UPS will probably not hire you now. They have a terrible track record on this.

Good Luck

Johnny - please don't listen to this vicious comment - I'd like to see your own 'track record' of predicting the future. It's very cold of you to be saying things like that unless you can back it up.

Did you sign up for this message board just to ruin someone's day? One single post and that's all you have to say? Wow...

Yea, your right Av8or, that was cold, especially considering it was my first post. Sorry Johnny.

I figured that all of us that frequent these boards and work in this industry could handle an insensitive comment now and then. Ill try not to make too many.

I appreciate your understanding here. You're not only talking about those who 'frequent these boards' but also those whose livelihood might depend on finally getting a call for a class. Either way, thanks for understanding.

What is the Hiring hotline number? Also, is there a web sight address? My UAL buddy needs the info. Thanks-
