fed ex hiring requirements

30 year pilot or 30 year old pilot?
I'd say after 30 years, a pilot who has been flying regularly would have more than enough.
A 30 year old pilot has probably been slugging it out in the regionals, furloughed from another major, or military. Either way if they meet the mins (1000 PIC turbine) and have 3 internal recs from Fedex pilots and a sponsor, they can get an interview. (If we were hiring)
Competitive times probably vary based on where you're coming from. Most likely the further over the min the better but it's never really been all about total time from what I've seen.

I would say you need to meet at least the published minimums. The following is taken from the FedEx pilot careers website:
1500 hours total fixed-wing time as pilot-in-command (PIC) or second-in-command in multi-engine turbo-prop A/C or jet A/C or combination thereof, including a minimum of 1000 hours total fixed-wing pilot-in-command in multi-engine turbo prop A/C or jet A/C or combination thereof.
Note: PIC for this purpose is defined as Captain/Aircraft Commander of record, not simply the sole manipulator of the controls.
Note: FedEx considers only pilot time in fixed wing aircraft toward minimum qualifications. This does not include simulator, helicopter, flight engineer, bombardier, navigator, RIO, EWO, WSO, NFO, or Special Crew.
Here is the link so you can read it:

the time may take a while which it should. ill do the cfi by new years and if im lucky i could get on corporate. but my ultimate goal is still fed ex. i have 2 names that have been in the business for quite a while and probably wouldnt mind reccomending me. if i have the 1500 total time on a citation or gulfstream would that be competitive or at least sufficient?

I recommend you spell the company name correctly for starters: FedEx
You'll need turbine PIC time no matter who you know. So right seat only in any job isn't going to cut it. It's great that your motivated, but you're putting the cart way before the horse here. Concentrate on finishing your ratings before worrying about a one of the best jobs in aviation.

(Actually somewhere around 24-25 and one of the youngest people hired). There have been many people hired before 30 so again it's not the age - it the ability, knowledge and way you present yourself. Many guys have far more than 2 names. If those two names were former management, still liked, and still on property - they still better be knocking the doors down to the ACP's to get you a look-see. I know some people that had good resume's, 10 references, a sponsor, and a couple other senior pilots working on their behalf. You've got to network. Those need to be more than two names - they need to be people who will REALLY go to bat for you - introduce to other crewmembers who will recommend you, etc... I'd say that a regional route will probably get you the PIC time far faster than the corporate route. It's going to suck (regional F/O) but it will be a lot longer by the time you get the experience to move to the left seat of the Citation & Gulfstream and then get the 1500 (min) to get an interview. 1500 hrs isn't competitive, a good reasonable mark is 3000+PIC. There are guys who get hired with 10,000+ heavy jet time and that's who you're competing against for a shot at an interview. There's a lot of former regional guys here and they tend to recommend people from their former airline (unless the guys a turd and they're blackballed). It's a good networking tool, second to being in a military squadron / reserve military squadron with several guys who work here.
Also don't limit yourself to only FedEx. UPS is a great and solid company (even if they wear brown
) They have great equipment & good people.

Most people who have degrees (at least in my generation) have the ability to communicate with proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, Capitalization and syntax.
It is commonly referred to as 'professionalism'. It comes across from the first impression.
Sorry, perhaps it is the latent English professor -for which I was qualified and might have done had Viet Nam not come along. The original 'quote', above, just gives me a headache. Your mileage may vary.
Perhaps it is just a 'generational' thing, which is a pity. It is just plain lazy . . .which is my opinion . .and I'm sticking to it. On the plus side, I don't do the interviews

By the way Norma Jean met an untimely and suspicious end.
