I'm sure if FedEx gets the DHL international volume, you will feel just as terrible for the ABX and ASTAR guys as you do for the lowly DHL truck drivers.

You are a true gentleman and a scholar.

Most analysts say it was essentially a 50/50 split between the big two. As I've said before, UPS' network could take DHL's revenues without a hiccup. He's playing you guys. And you're falling for it hook, line, and sinker.
I suppose that's one way to look at it. I am just reporting what was said at our meeting the other night. You might be right.

I still think YOUR best bet is to try to get on with another carrier because it looks like a dead end job there at ASTAR, unfortunately.

I really wish you the best and I hope it works out for you. Though, I will always have a sour taste in my mouth regarding what ASTAR pilots said about UPS during the famous picket line in Atlanta.

You'll always have a chip on your shoulder no matter the situation. So who really cares?

Lots of emotion here....and no one on this board had a say in the deal!

IMHO, one of the reasons the UPS-DHL deal evaporated was the continuing severe downturn in the US economy. Volume this month and forecast for future DHL volume, like UPS' and FDX's, fell dramatically.

No one is adding planes for the DHL part of the pie because the entire pie has shrunk.

Don't even get me started on how International freight is way down too.

Careful, you're in danger of moderation

Effectively since he's been disenfranchised he's got the "right" to say anything he wants to any UPS pilot since he's a victim (of what or who isn't material to people like him). I'm sure it will serve him well as he goes on in whatever life he chooses, and that bitterness and vitcim-hood will come shining through.

Well it should be obvious why FR8K9's post needs to be moderated...

He didn't respond with "thank you sir, may I have another" to an insult that if going the other way would have resulted in moderation.

For Pete's sake.

At UPS (and 99% of aviation for that matter), if management's mouth is moving, they're playing you. Upper management is trying to leverage everything they can fear-wise to exact gains in productivity, and lower management is just kicking the junior line guys because they themselves may get cut.
