I think most of us here only wish we were as smart as Fred Smith. I'd leave the long-term planning to him over the trolls at APC any day of the week.

One of the best comments I have read!

Fred was born into wealth and opportunity.

Fred's lot in life is more attributed to his dad's cash than his smarts, that's for sure.

I'm sure you feel the same about Bill Gates. No credit for coming up with the idea, then founding FedEx or Microsoft. It was just destiny.

We still have options on the A380. I'd be willing to bet that if the 777 options get cancelled, we'll pick up our options for the A380.

I won't be surprised by anything the next 12 months. Everything seems to be up for grabs. CNBC and Glenn Beck are all up in arms over many of the business/financial proposals from the new Administration.

Without getting too political - can you blame him when even Hugo Chavez says he's more conservative than The One?

My main concern is the dollar value; I think that if it plummets too much (in the next few years) the oil prices will sky rocket again and the export companies will continue to bleed which of course will affect FDX and UPS more than other 'airlines'.

I'm not talking about the near future but a few years down the road... Having lived in a high inflation country in the past I fear it more than the plague itself... (well, almost)

UPS management certainly doesn't give a rat's a** about the Teamsters welfare, they only care about gaining an edge on FDX - and rightly so. I also think FDX will win the public relations battle. Most people cringe when they hear "Teamsters" and "Jimmy Hoffa." I wouldn't expect a whole lot of sympathy for the teamsters from the public.
Canceling the order will cost FEDEX hundreds of millions if not billions. It won't happen

Jeez Louise...Read your own article. UPS wasn't required to cease any ad. UPS voluntarily removed ads that may have been predicated on superceded surveys. This decision was not mandated by any magistrate.

Apparently in your book, two wrongs make a right. I'm sure your fine mother taught you otherwise...
