I forget was it purple or brown that had to cease a certain string of false ads recently?

Maybe we could push this whole issue a step further and get both our pilot groups under the NLRA.
Sure would be nice to have that kind of negotiating leverage. I can dream cant I?
After all, UPS is always so quick to point out to us that we are not an airline.
All joking aside it will be interesting to see how this plays out. Fred is obviously worried out it. Now we will see just what kind of political clout he has given the leanings of the current government.
Pretty clever to spin it into a "bailout" for UPS. Fred is obviously trying to appeal to the public on this issue, but in the end I think the public just doesnt give a rats a$$ about it.
Funny thing is that if an employer pays top notch wages, hires top notch people, and treats them like assests rather than liabilities ti would be pretty easy to keep a union off the property. Although some may argue that its actually cheaper to let the union in and make them slug it out for every penny.

Why does it have to be a level playing field?
Life isn't fair, some folks are smarter, or luckier when they start a business. FedEx started as an airline, UPS started as a trucking company. FedEx is more of an airline than trucking company and UPS is more of a trucking company than airline. UPS being 50 years older should have done it differently when they started flying airplanes a few years ago.
Play the cards that are in your hand and don't pull any cards out of your sleeve. Sounds like a lot of executives crying "he has a better deal than I do" get over it. One thing is for sure it doesn't involve anyone on this board. I guess it could cost the FedEx guys some advancement if it cost us some 777s in the future.

No matter how this plays out. You will have 777 on property as scheduled. 99% sure of it. Fred is bluffing, and I dont think anyone believes he would cancel the order. If he does, thats not being a very good CEO. Long Term, the 777 will benifit FDX greatly. And I dont think Fred has Congress in his pocket anymore, like in the past. McCain is just one member with very little power.

There are advantages and disadvantages to Fred's business model. One of the big advantages is avoiding the teamsters. If his business model is forced to change, I am sure he and we will survive but the business model will change. Now that we know how the IPA rank and file feel, I would like to see if the mechanics in Seattle think he is bluffing.

If he's that stupid to Cancel the order, I hope he does. It only helps us. So either way, UPS comes out better. UPS will have 747-400's full while FDX is flying two MD-11 back from Asia. I say Go for it, Cancel the Order Fred! I think Dementia must be settling in.

I believe Fred brought this all on himself in the way that he organized FedEx Ground. It backfired and drew way too much attention, which is why he is where he is today, facing this legislation. He may have just outsmarted himself on this issue.
