Seems like it would be cheaper to have guys in ARPT Stby. Less credit hours and no room expense.
Pure and simple - they are padding the reserve utilization numbers, it enhances the overmanning!

We're no longer fat because everyone is in the school house with all the shuffling of crew positions.

Did I miss the sarcasm? Padding the reserve utilization would make us look less overmanned.

Whatever. The MEM HTL Stby just seems illogical to me.

To paraphrase O... "Because we can... It's in the contract."

If you stay at your own home and you have an issue with your vehicle or phone service - YOU ARE ON THE HOOK!

Well, it looks like we managed to get this "fixed."

If nothing else, it confirms the fact that either "O" or some other management type spends time here. That in and of itself is not to bad. For you Memphis guys who won't get paid to stay at home on "hotel standby" anymore, I say, you should'a kept yur big trap shut. But look on the bright side, you can hire a baby sitter, and take the wife over to the hotel for a little mini-honeymoon. Or, you can just go there solo, and watch THE GAME.

Great idea. The wife has been hinting that it's time to go on a trip, anyway.

O sez...Frankly, we have had issues concerning missed notifications. I have directed CRS to cease allowing pilots to serve hotel standby periods from home. We either need a pilot on hotel standby or we don't. Sitting hotel standby from home is called “reserve”duty. Again, this is my decision, not the schedulers. Please direct all hate mail at the correct source.

Settles that one!

As far as I'm concerned, accepting to do a hotel stby from home is undermining the contract as we fought to fix the onerous 30-minute call out 24-hour availablity we had prior to negotiating contract 1. Glad "O" stepped forward on this one.
