As a side note, a friend of mine was in MEM and received 2 voice mails and a TEXT message from scheds to cover that trip ! They even tried to put a D/H on it.

Enjoy family time this summer.

Damn, TEXT msg, eh? They have the technology to TEXT msg, but can't get leveling straight! Bottom of the B-RSV list and just got called to move a plane this evening to ORD, DH back in the morning! Not sure what happened to the original CAPT, I'll inquire when I meet my FO!

That is true, but how many mgmt pilots are. They hardly get to fly as it is and then they are flying around in the right seat...Some of them never sat in the right seat of the a/c they are flying in.

In order to fly the right seat a Captain must have (right) seat dependant training of some sort. I do not know the details of our program but usually it is limited to FLEX/LCA's and maybe flight test. If managers are doing it they most likely have documented training, they better since it is a requirement under 121.

Take a look at the senior captain flying RFO pairing 895 on 23jul06. How do you think that happened? F/O assigned trip was listed as sick.
