Default UPS's BM video

The "andy" video/slideshow shows higher furlough numbers then the company stated in the past. It burns me up that BM's new video (out today) is quoting those higher numbers as potential furloughs. The company has only stated 300 and no more. The company has said nothing to date about a new (larger) furlough number.

The next video/slide show ought to be what happens if there is a "Reduction in Force" and how that's gonna effect people, not just saying MIA ONT and Zs will be in ANC. It should show the rippling effect in detail.

Also, if pilots sign up for RDG for 10-01 right now (months after the MOU was accepted) then the potential furlough date should be pushed back to August 1st.

That's all for now.

Great points. Revenue was only down 15% yet profits fell 43%. UPS is expensing everything they can now in order to maximize profits in the future, It's absolutely amazing to me that we are on the defensive and UPS continues to buy back stock at the rate they have.

The mechanics are vowing to not make it through peak without a new deal. I think it is time to call the bluff. Either crap or get off the pot. I am not giving another dime.

I heard the company has already "unofficially" told the union that a furlough announcement could go out Jan 1, 2010. This may be why the union is puting out these videos to try to get people to sign up.

BM's biggest problem is he believed in this pilot group too much. He thought we were different, it turns out we are not.

Why not reduce the number of Furloughs by finally, after years of empty leadership, get the IST-TLV flying? Or force UPS to stop bending the rules with MNG? UPS will change a routing once every 30 days or put one package on the MNG birds so we can't fly it. And we have Total 7th Freedom rights in the PI, but we don't fly to Cebu? A contractor does. This would save some from the street!

Do you really think we can force UPS to do anything? Of coarse there are ways to eliminate or mitigate a furlough by increasing flying. UPS could also offer a better incentive to get guys to retire. They don't have to do any of it. What we have is the MOU, UPS put the ball in our court and made it a win win for them. Either they save money without furloughing or they furlough because some of us can't bother to do anything.

Either way they have made it possible for some to blame the IPA for the layoff. The company will hammer this home at every opportunity.

Yes, we can force the PI Flight. But we have an EB full of Empty Suits. Never pushing. The USA and the PI have FULL 7th Freedom rights agreement. But we allow Yellow River to fly that segment with a 737. FDX has been going there for years with there Tail.

The IST-TLV flight is a no brainer. FDX, AMR, CAL, DAL, etc. all fly there daily with no problems.

All things considered, this pilot group is pretty good, especially compared to the other four (one being a "legacy") I've been a part of. Most of the "problem" is UPS. They are beyond the pale in so many respects...they make Kalitta look classy. At least Connie was straight forward. As much as I like the Fed Ex guys I've met I shudder to imagine how they'd react as a group dealing with the thugs in ATL. They make Fred look like an amateur when it comes to ruthless management. No wonder they like him so much.

I know we can fight them and we should be doing that. It will still take years to get the flying and even if we get it all how many crews will it save. We are way overstaffed by any measure.
