Please clarify your position. You want it to be mandatory? You want to give concessions? The individual may well not get elected to the board but, he will get votes and he will have a following of people who agree with his position. When he speaks in a formal setting like the forum it has an impact on the people who would be forced to give something up and it will provoke a reaction from them. For it to have been or be more than voluntary it would have had to go to a vote of the membership, given the time constraints when this manifested itself I think a vote in favor would have been tough to get and that the voluntary route was the best way to go.

I think the point that is trying to made is that unions fail when everyone does not stick together. The IPA EB has been working diligently toward putting information out to the membership about our situation. No conspiracy! 67% participation! It should have been better! 
Hopefully it will be when the time comes!

And it would only be 'mandatory' if passed by the majority of the membership... In reality, I don't need to give a dime. I can earn a living in the guard if furloughed. Most don't have that option.

I am not going to get laid off and in reality I don't have to give a dime but I did. What and how much was my choice and voluntary ask me to vote to allow someone else to control and dictate what and how much is given, don't like the idea.

Well I have another name for someone who doesn't help out other fellow pilots because I called them greedy. I didn't think I am that significant as to have such a profound effect on people. LOL
