If they want people to sign up, they should show them what will happen to them if UPS furloughs. The only thing the union says now is it will effect the bottom 2/3s of the pilot group. How many (and which captains) would lose their seat. Which pilots would be sent to ANC? Where would the DC8 people go if there is a reduction in force? ....

The IPA should send an e-mail to EVERY pilot, forecasting where they will end up, and what % they will drop, if there is a furlough.

e.g. In the event of a furlough, you (Capt Greedypants), will go from your present assignment: SDFZ Capt (75%)

to : ANC Capt (60%)

I would do it myself, but I am still waiting for my memory upgrade to arrive for my Commodore 64.

I think you will see that when they know the exact numbers of furloughs and numbers on staffing levels in each fleet and seat. Until then, they would only be guessing.

The "Capt Greedypants" is as sweeping and unproductive as "F/O Senseofentitlementpants". In situations such as this, it's often more productive to hold those labels for if it comes up short.

I'm lobbying guys who didn't contribute last time trying to sell the quality of life enhancement angle. I'm looking forward to maybe going to work twice max for the next three months. I really won't miss the cash that much, or being around UPS management for that matter. And I'll get really good at my kid's fifth grade math.

Yes but at the same time the union is throwing out new furlough numbers and those numbers are speculative (only based on one man's analysis). So still the IPA is guessing.

I don't think the company has come out with a number yet. I do believe the union was told not too long ago that there will be more domestic cutbacks in Jan. Maybe that is where the increased number came from.

The 10-01 MOU awards are out. About 19 pilots signed up. As far as cutbacks go we are losing MHR-RFD and a few more.

Spend 27 Minutes and watch the A.M. video it is very informative. If the MOU Part Deux Doo fails in November UPS WILL furlough 400 pilots and they will be out until after the contract is agreed so probably around 2014.

Bob thanks for lobbying even though some junior potential furloughees may be throwing out emotional slurs.
