Yep, verbatim. "Welcome to the last job you'll ever have." This from the same guy that told us that we were accruing retirement benefits beginning on day one (a lie, as it turned out, they began accruing a year later), and just before the dude from Loss Prevention came in and told us that we were all a bunch of thieves and it was only a matter of time before we were caught, fired and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Welcome to UPS...
Are you sure it wasn't "This is the last suit you'll ever wear"? Maybe they used that flashy thingy on you!

I believe you do accrue from day one, but you are not vested for 1 year. But, my contract is not readily available.

You're right. My bad. That's what I should have said. That was a long time ago and right now with guys on the street that came to UPS with a lot more experience than I had when I got hired, it's not something worth worrying about.
That's weird because it sounds like they said this in the past (late 80's and 90's) and then in '07 but I wasn't told this. Either that or I just wasn't listening (which wouldn't be out of the ordinary). LOL
So, what are all the senior heads-in-the-sand guys thinking now? A buddy of mine works there as an FO and throughout all this he says that many of the captains he has flown with have told him this is all a company bluff. Basically telling him UPS won't furlough these guys and they will never furlough anyone so no need to worry or "help" with furlough mitigation. Any thoughts? I know he is saying, "I told you so."

I guarantee you that one month (and longer) from now, there will still be senior guys that don't even know a furlough occurred and there are still guys unemployed.

The same will be true two months from now. Oh yeah, and even more will be unemployed.
