FMLA is "gender neutral," so the company's attitude had damned sure better be that both parents qualify, assuming the existence of the conditions predicate to FMLA applicability. Screwing around with the explicit terms of a federal statute is generally considered to be bad for business. Whether both parents choose to avail themselves of the advantages contained in the FMLA is entirely up to them.

good luck with this. The company just keeps losing the paperwork or asking if you can work something else out or suffling you off to a person who doesn't know ( lots of those at UPS) . went thru this and finally threatened to sue and was told I was being unpleasant about it. they drag their feet hoping you will no longer need it. the last time I needed it i started with a request to an upper level manager and started with giving them my attorneys name and number

Hitting the street this Sunday.
This gonna be the full 15? Any last minute reprieves?
Guess all the "managers" are gainfully employed. Glad they have less work to manage now there are fewer IPA crew members

However, our pig received a pay increase:
UPS CEO’s compensation rises by 6.2% in 2009
Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010
The chairman and chief executive officer of UPS Inc., Scott Davis, received total compensation valued at $5.5m last year, a 6.2% increase from 2008, according to a regulatory filing
Sorry to differ with you, but us bottom 300 who are getting furloughed are infuriated by this. And if history repeats itself from the dealings at other airlines, furloughs will now be part of every economic downturn and contract negotiations for the pilot group.

I beg to differ. Last year, Mr Smith and his managers took paycuts. According to a USA Today article dated 12/2008, "CEO Fred Smith will take a 20% pay cut and other senior executives will take pay cuts of 7.5% to 10% starting Jan. 1."

You guys are both right.
I think about the stories when UPS laughed at FedEx. Still are. FedEx is laughing all the way to the bank. Our current leadership is blinded by arrogance. Playing catch up is SOP at UPS. Reactionary thinking is the culture.

I don't really know how UPS is with FMLA with the guys. Personally, I'm all for equality, therefore I would say that if you are a male pilot and your wife has a child, you should be able to get the same benefits a female pilot gets. We get 2 months off paid prior and after childbirth. A father should get the same. Of course then we'd probably be really bleeding Mutual Aid dry since the guys would probably be impregnating their wives every year just to get the time off......LOL. J/K Seriously though, I think the guys should get the same benefits.
