FDX-Is anyone hearing these rumors?
Fellas, it's been a little quiet lately. This isn't flamebait, but stuff I've been hearing from multiple sources over the past couple of weeks. Feel free to shoot it down...
1) Between 12-20 Boeing 727s coming out of the desert ASAP.
2) 5 MDs coming out of the desert.
3) No upcoming excess on the Bus, looking at identing tails that could come out of the desert.
4) Large bid in the next month or so, in conjunction with the business plan being finalized.
5) HKG MD will be in the bid with 50-75 captains and fo slots.
6) Sweetened LOA to be negotiated in order to prevent the situation of nobody bidding it, so as not to repeat the Airbus not going fully filled for 2 years.
7) Flag ops classes and testing going on in June, fully Flag by the end of the summer.
8) Flag ops will cause huge numbers of holes to be filled on widebody international flying. One number I heard is 350 slots needed on the MD alone, due to increased rest requirements.
8) 4a2b gone in June.
9) Vacation buyback starts in July.
10) Hiring prior to Peak.

Also heard from a FDX non-pilot: several (3-5 initially) 757s to Europe in near future, for 757 SIBA flying.
If any/all of these come to pass, we should be VERY happy!

It won't be SIBA since all 757 crews are intl qualified. It will be built in normal lines but will be double deadheads. So I'm told...

I can see the guys from corp dept and prof instructors coming to line when we exit 4a2b. (10-15 corp guys and 10-20 pros)
Not sure if we'd go to the pool before peak, but, definately in 2011

We are not pulling 727s out of the desert. There aren't any to pull out. We are getting the 727s that are flown around in Canada because we are giving them some 757s. Normally a 727 is sent to the grave yard when it comes up for a heavy check that would cost more to perform than the airplane is actually worth. They are electing to perform those checks on a few of the planes because they need the lift. Also, some aiplanes that they were going to donate to a school are being kept around for any parts that may still have usefull life.
