Yes he is the DO still. No sign of him leaving. The owner really likes him.

Not sure I'd want to be working for this company. Who cares about paychecks showing up on time when stuff like this is taking place. I wonder what's going to happen to the crew?

121 airlines that have been involved with overruns from the top of my head: SW, FX, AA, K4, DL. I'm sure there have been more. Does that mean that those companies are bad based on just that one merit? Please elaborate and give the forum something more to go off to convince us.

Any updates on this?

If you have DC-9/MD-80 experience you could be a DEC. Otherwise, it depends on when you're ready and if there are openings.

The DC-9 is fairly stable on the captain side of things. Atlas could always change that again.

The MD-80 fleet is expanding. Both captains and first officers are needed. As Packrat said, you could go DEC if you have time in a turbojet in the 100k plus range. That assumes you meet the faa's PIC requirements.

We are working toward cargo personnel on all lower 48 flights to remove that burden from the flight crews. Stay tuned for that one. Home based, 18/12 schedule. Details are on APC's website.

Not being judgmental, a job's a job. Just curious, how long does it take two dudes to roller jack, position & strap down a load of steering columns on something the size of MD80?

Really, it only takes about an hour to unload/load the plane. Of course, the Captain has to do the required paperwork in that time as well.

The good news is that when the cargo is unusually large or unwieldy, the customers often provide labor to help. In Laredo, loading isn't an issue. Of all the carriers in the "Ypsilanti vortex," Everts managment is working hard to make the job more palatable for the pilot group.

The majority of the time the customer provides laborers. You can often just tell them where to put the cargo and how to strap it. I have never had an occasion where only the flightcrew was available to load. Although we didn't have to load them there was a time when we arrived at the destination one hour early. In that case we could have waited for the load crew to arrive but chose to unload the 132 loose loaded semi tires ourselves so we could head to the hotel.

As I said in an earlier post we are planning on adding a loadmaster to all turbojet flights to free up the flightcrews time.
