Well, let's see. He stops paying dues today. It doesn't come out of the pay check until the 15th. We should see something about the TA on Friday, NLT Monday. Not much of threat there.

Given that its got to be printed and mailed, I figure some time early next week when we get our copy of this agreement.
It could be available earlier via the web, possibly in pdf format. Question: Anyone know when we will see these documents??

Also, for the UPS lurkers, is your "contract" available to be seen via Internet and if so, where??
Who cares? This is so awesome seeing ALPA get it's butt kicked by both UPS (especially UPS) and SWAPA in the same week. Waaaaay cool.

Let's see ... from a non-ALPA 747 Captain making maybe $100/hr. You are right, that's awesome. And before I get flamed, I'm entitled to bash my own union

Here's some input from a line pilot ... really glad to hear we actually have a TA! I have to assume the UPS TA put some serious pressure on negotiations! Yeah! That's really great news. I'll assume that the negotiating committee wouldn't have TA'd an agreement they didn't think we would ratify. This "could" be really great news.

That said, I'm a bit disappointed that I haven't received a copy yet or even a 2 page summary of the highlights. Don't get me wrong here, I understand the "process." It's just moving a bit too slowly for me. Maybe they have something to hide? I doubt that but I find it inconsiderate that I don't yet know what's in it. Several of my United neighbors have congratulated me on the TA, they're really surprised when I tell them I have no idea what's in it!

Maybe it just isn't as high a priority to the MEC as I feel it should be! If you ask me, once Bob Chimenti had a TA on Saturday, the MEC should have convened starting on Sunday to gather the details and make their recommendations. Anything less that that is an injustice to the membership. Like I said, maybe it just isn't very high on their priority list?

So come on already ... even the papers have at least some of the details, that's more than my own union has relayed to me to date.

I'm going to stop paying my dues until my union gives me my copy of the agreement. Enough said!

Respectfully,
Hey Mark, I think we are all anxious, excited, giddy, put your own word in the box. The stuff the papers have is still purely speculation and I wouldn't start spending it or working under the work rules they put out. Just chill and it will all happen in short time.

What an idiot.......go back to your Southern air forum. Do you not realize that all ALPA union control is local????

National does not puppet any MEC.....any failure you were a part of was you and your peer's fault.

GET IT?????

That there is funny. The funniest part is that the UPS PILOTS, SOUTHWEST PILOTS and FEDEX PILOTS all were able to show a united front to their respective managements and get quantifiable gains in their respective contracts. How are the independent contractors doing? Who's butt is really getting kicked?

Here's my view on why the FDX TA was announced before the language was finalized: FDX wanted to get the message out to the customers that the deal was done before UPS announced the vote. Why? Customer confidence as we head for the peak season. I think ALPA and the negotiating committee was pleased with the way things had wound down and so they agreed to let managemet announce it.

So, relax, it's almost Friday.

YGBSM! United front from the UPS pilots? 55% to 45% hardly counts as unity. God forbid you could see our Bar and Grill over the past coupla months. You'd swear we were in the middle of a civil war. When members in good standing start making suggestions we'd be better off going to ALPA, that is not a good thing. I've been ALPA before and I'd rather go to management than sign over my dues to Delta and United. The pay "raise" we got barely covers inflation and the productivity gains will kill most upgrades for the next few years.

I considered and even had a line in my post about that, but I decided it didn't really address the point I was trying to make concerning the ALPA hater's comment.

Nonetheless, I don't think that your pilot group will self destruct. I think you guys will probably make some changes in the union leadership.
