T-6 hours for FedEx?
#21
On the FedEx application there is a drop down menu in the flight time section with the T-6 listed. Why don't you just put your T-6 time in there and let the FedEx people who do the hiring decide how they want to count it. I have a ton of T-34 time that is not even on the drop down, but I listed it under trainers for 'Other' and just put a note on the side saying it is T-34C IP time. The guidance I've been given from my FedEx Endorser and references is don't put anything on your application that you can't explain or document. They also all said don't try to read between the lines and make it harder then it needs to be. I do agree with an earlier post that I have not seen many multi-engine T-6's either
Good Luck......and remember we're only competing against 1000's of others!!!

The FedEx site clearly show that only multi-engine turbo prop time counts toward the required mins, I copied it for you.
1500 hours total fixed-wing time as pilot-in-command (PIC) or second-in-command in multi-engine turbo-prop A/C or jet A/C or combination thereof, including a minimum of 1000 hours total fixed-wing pilot-in-command in multi-engine turbo prop A/C or jet A/C or combination thereof. Note: PIC for this purpose is defined as Captain/Aircraft Commander of record, not simply the sole manipulator of the controls. Note: FedEx considers only pilot time in fixed wing aircraft toward minimum qualifications. This does not include simulator, helicopter, flight engineer, bombardier, navigator, RIO, EWO, WSO, NFO, or Special Crew.

I have to tell you, I have flown night freight in bad weather with other stressful factors in a viper and the package absolutely, positively had to be there! I just didn't have to land to deliver it!
Military pilots that are instructors have had advanced training, and have proven that although their skill set may not directly correlate to flying freight, It has shown that they are very capable pilots and easily trainable for a given task.
I have been flying night freight for 16 years and I can tell you that both sides have something to offer!

First of all, if they had wanted the package to absolutely, positively get "delivered", they would have sent an F-117 or an A-10 to deliver it, not that little pointy-nosed toy, that can't hit the broad side of a barn.
Secondly, your opinion of military instructor pilots is just that, yours. After 34 years in this man's Air Force, I can tell you that some of them could barely walk and chew gum. And as far as "easily trainable for a given task", so's my Doberman Pinscher.
FedEx has plenty of civilian guys who do a great job, day in and day out, without the ego, I might add.
Thanks for the laugh.
