Our N.C. Speaks For ME!

dc,
What would you call our A380 payrates compared to UPS single pay rate for all? Including the 748 and the 380 that UPS will be flying for a single rate.
I guess our A380 rate is now, effectively, an A Plus Scale?

[QUOTE=dckozak;63525] What surprises me is the lack of comment on the fact that while our widebody pay is now on par with UPS's (all fleet) pay, the affect is with our WB/NB pay differential, our 727 guys are, effectively, B scale, relative to UPS. [QUOTE]
This was explained quite clearly by the NC. This contract helps to restore what was taken from the "hard time" international flying on the previous contract. When trip rig went to 4:1 all international trips washed out to 6 hours pay per day even when a 6-13 hour leg was flown in one day. All airlines compensate their widebody international flying with higher pay. This contract attempts to bring some of that industry standard compenstation back to international flying. As a secondary effect it should draw some more seniority to that type of flying. We can complain until the cows come home on this one and how narrow body guys got hosed but that isn't the case. Narrow body domestic flying didn't get shorted, there just wasn't as big an increase unless the trip pays TAFB which some do. Notice I'm not saying narrow or widebody pilots, I refer to flying. It has nothing personal to do with pilots but rather with the type of flying. With new hires going to the right seat of the MD-11 there is nobody on the property who can't hold the seat and the compensation. Same as some senior campers who stay in the right seat when they can easily hold the left. They made a personal choice. Well here is another personal choice....go fly international or stay home close to your dog dish. It's a choice all crewmembers at FedEx currently have the luxury to make.

Capt z Man- And sheep get fleeced once a year.
Merlin- No disrespect but I'm having a tuff time understanding your arguement. You are right.....Every day delayed in implementing the new trip rig is another day of diminished returns.
Albief15- I can feel the sincerity in your post but you brought up two topics mentioned in my original post........"current environment" and "next contract". Re-read second paragraph in original post.
On another note........AA union just went to the table with most junior 737 Capt making over $210hr. But I forgot....we're not in that business.

UPS is supposed to get the 380 (I'll believe it when I see it!) and the 747-400. The 800 has never been mentioned (as of yet). When you compare the number of nb pilots to superwidebody pilots at federal (which won't be online for few years now), I think ups has the better pay scale setup. Add in the fact that if you get 757s, it will be considered nb for pay purposes as well.
As far as trip rig goes, most of the ups trips, domestic and international are paid on the rig. The exceptions are the cat and dog lines and turns (which are 6hrs). I think the reason is how federal pilots are not paid during the sort, at least that is what I've been told. Can you confirm this?
I've got a bud who works on your bus schedules. He says our scheduling is not as good as federal's, but it improved a lot this time around. His major gripe on the ta is the signing bonus differential between fedex and ups. But like all negotiations, you have to give up something to get something. I'm not sure where the tradeoffs were at ups.
I think your ta will pass by at least 80-20. I haven't heard too many discouraging words or show stoppers. Yours is shorter deal, so you guys can lay the groundwork for the next round.

PS btw, your motors are upside down...lol

You are mistaken...AA did not go to the table with ANY payrates whatsoever. The scale you're referring to comes from the PDP, APA's alter ego living in fantasyland. I can come up with a wishlist as well, but if the PDP wishlist were to be presented at the table, the laughter would be heard across the country.
As much as pattern bargaining made gains for the pax guys in the last 20yrs, it will take at least that long before they get back to where they were, much less where they want to be.

Well, good luck to them on that. Currently, the lowest paid AA 737 capt makes $149 and the highest makes $161 (figures from the APC airline profiles). Going to $210 would be about a 40% raise, which they don't have a snowball's chance in hell of getting. I'd like $250 an hour as a 727 Capt, but I will settle for $180.
