Good news for sure. Let's not ever forget what this management team of bogger eaters is capable of. NO FAVORS OR WAIVERS EVER!

Are these recalls to backfill retirements or are you out of pilots officially to cover the schedule?

Default Deferred?

Anybody hear if anyone has deferred on the round of 6? Or if the company has made any StUPid moves like recalling someone who has already resigned?

I heard 1 of the first 6 bypassed, don't know how good that intel is. Don't forget there was 1 "brain-trust" who decided to go to management. Just think now you can be his IRO, only at ups.

It appears to be a combination of retirements and the new personal leave policy established with the IPA and from the rate of junior available calls a general shortage of pilots on some fleets. We just had a re-alignment bid close with people moving from one base or fleet to another . It is also within the time frame that they indicated they would begin a recall. UPS has changed the way they staff the airline, much higher utilization of flight crews and a willingness to cancel some flights.
I wouldn't get excited about any hiring for awhile but, if you have an application in I would definitely keep it updated.

UPS is never out of pilots to cover the schedule! We have the super reserve pilot force to help out. As for the Union folk, some fleets are very short staffed at the moment. But, all the IPA charts state otherwise.

Yes. 1 of the 6 bypassed until January and that guy will be in the January class since they announced 8 more. As far as the 8 recallees in January go, 2 are definite bypassers, 1 is almost certain to bypass due to contract obligations, and 2 more are questionable bypassers. Waiting to hear what those two are gonna do.

Bill,
Keep on stoking the fire as long as it benefits you. The company recalled almost a hundred mechanics days before the 6 recalls were announced. The mechanics did not have a solidarity policy either. Give credit where it is due. The company was not shocked. They made a business decision based on staffing.
