FDX Contract Openers

Guys,
I promised I wouldn't comment on this again, so I'm enjoying crow, stewed in my DAL hat.
Allowing any shape , or form of PBS on the property is the single most damaging thing that that could happen for the rest of your entire career. Age 65 would be a minor blip compared to the damage done by PBS to every aspect of your career.
After 30 years at FDX, then 5 with PBS at DAL, I believe I have a good perspective on the comparison.....and DAL ALPA has had a number of years to unsucessfully try to recover all the give backs.......bet your bottom dollar that FDX knows more of the details of PBS than FDX Alpa......no offense intended to the hard-workinng NC.
Best of luck,
BG

First of all, the PIBS letter is NOT part of standard RLA Section 6 openers. It's The Company's attempt to deal directly with the pilots, to circumvent the Negotiating Committee to bring us something the Negotiating Committee would never do. Union Busting 101.
Second, notice a primary rationale is to address the problem we have of so many trip trade transactions, and all the work that schedulers have to do to construct secondary and custom lines, and all the make-up requests. We submit so many requests because of the lack of transparency and we never know what will go through or how long it will take. So, this PIBS system will address a problem created by The Company's inability to program real-time trip trades. The irony of the whole idea is the PIBS does not exist either -- it would have to be created. Yeah, we're going to trust them to program a PBS system to fix the problems they created by their inability and/or unwillingness to program real-time trip trades.
Do we REALLY look that stupid?

This thread is 5 pages in and the old "cruise pilot" has not been mentioned. Maybe that's what the company is hoping for. Pay too much attention to this strange airfield (PIBS) over here while we slip this other thing right by them.
I envision over 65 guys retaining their seniority and becoming defacto RFOs (never at the controls below altitude XX,XXX) at a pay rate well below current RFO rates. And when there are not enough 65+'ers to fill the pure RFO/cruise pilot lines then.....

One of the many no-go items in the company's wish list.
I sure am glad that we got things narrowed down in our interim discussions, though. Can you imagine what their openers would have looked like, had we not?

For many years the NWA CBA had Captain RFO's (capts ONLY as RFO's). The logic ... it created a need for more wodybody capts and that was good for everybody.
Would folks vote for that? Maybe?

I never could figure out why WE(FDX ALPA) fought the company using captains as RFO's, years ago.
