Default Excess Bid?

Well, it seems as though the 767 LOA and the HKG firings have been examined inside and out, so it's time for something new. Anybody else hear about an excess bid in the next week or two? The rumor I heard was the entire 727 fleet under age 65 (of course,) but also some folks out of the MadDog.

Word floating around the Training Building today is as of July 1 all 727's will be off the FDX registry thus removing all seats from "Manning Availability". All crew members under 65 can then select training on any A/C that has a crew member junior to them or participate in any system bid put out. All members over 65 will no longer have an avail. seat and thus will be forced to find alternate employment or retire.

Looking at the training letters, it would appear most 727 pilots have already found a new a/c...

Another head-scratcher...A SIBA bid just closed that extends through August. If the 727 goes away June 30, will the 757 (or whatever they choose) do the south cone flying as early as July 1? Or will they leave the SIBA guys to fly the cone thru the summer? Anyone flying South America have any inside info from the rampers in Campinas? I know rampers and cab drivers typically have all the answers!!

Whether it is from the pending 727 excess or any other forthcoming vacancy bid, good luck to anyone bidding to go to an FDA, or bidding to remain in an FDA. And I mean that in the most literal sense. I hope for the best for all y'all. (No smilies here)

SIG notes didn't sound too promising.

Crew Resource Planning (CRP): Assuming the accelerated retirement of the 727 will execute as planned, we expect associated system form changes whereby routes that the 727 had flown will go to other aircraft. The manning/staffing changes for re-balancing these gauges will follow in the form of an excess bid followed closely by a 767 bid. The Company stated there may be some excesses in other seats in addition to the 727. We expect that most seats will be affected. The company should be publishing this information soon.

Interesting...we went through this a few years back at UPS. Hopefully you're 757/767s will be able to absorb the excess pilots.
