I'm just staying until.....(FDX)
#13
I keep hearing guys say they are just staying until they see what the retirement enhancements will be on the new contract. Sorry, but I have to call bull....they are staying because they like the money or don't have a life outside of work. Don't get me wrong, that is their prerogative and I respect that decision to hang out and make the big bucks. Just be honest. The latest I heard is "well I could get a lot more money in retirement if they raise the 260 cap".....really the 350 a year you have made for the last 3 60+ years does not cover the little extra you will make if they raise it. Are you seriously naive enough to think there will be a contract in the next 24 months before you turn into a pumpkin, or are you hoping that there is another bump in the age to 67? The other one I heard was "I am just sticking around for the travel benefits" yep, seriously you can't make this crap up.

I can assure you that I was not trying to snipe or start class warfare. Just seems all the over 60 guys I fly with seem to have an unsolicited excuse for why they are staying around. I am good letting this thread die....as a matter of fact, moderator please delete it! That having been said how about next time you ask my intentions, instead of assuming the worst case scenario. I definitely have my retirement planning in order....thanks for the advice though!

Despite your previous pleading with the Mods to shut this thread down the above quote shows you to be disingenuous, and just a distracting sideshow when we should be focused on important unity and contract issues. Your wedge driving attempt is irrelevant, and your appearent need to "snap" at anyone disagreeing with you shows a bit of "Little Man" syndrome. Do something useful. Write your Rep about the direct dealing missives, don't attack a segment of "Us"...........food for thought.
