That stinks. One of these days I hope I can get enough of a bank to do what one guy I flew with did, internationally. Flew first class on Emirates, three times. Now that would be a treat.

Not trying to defend contract 2006 but; RJ's are about the only option out of MEM now so the old language would not make a difference! So your choices are an RJ or SW which wouldn't be considered an RJ but also would not have FC. So language change or not we would still be in the same boat!

I see how it can be difficult to get other than an RJ out of Memphis, but it can be done. This route was showing 37 other flights available that day, many of them with at least one leg first class. It would be good if they could get in specific writing in the contract that if there is first class availability on another airline, it should be booked first. Obviously going to the cheaper fare on SW or Frontier isn't even an attempt.

I am not saying it wouldn't be hard, I am saying it would have been more expensive. You can catch a mainline non RJ to at least DFW, ATL, and DEN. You can also get FC on an RJ to a bunch of other locations. In the olden days the accepted fare MEM-SHV was based on to 727s through ATL, for whatever reason we gave that up. If the rules were in place today the company would have to book us on American with an accepted fare of 500 instead of 350 dollars.

A380 rates. I especially like the RJ rides MEM-ORD or MEM-CLT on the way to or back from Europe.

Something about block over 5 hrs was supposed to prevent it but management doesn't see it that way.

When you have "conditional language" which option do you think the company will take? RJ's as a last resort was abused prior the the 2006 contract! Do you really think things would be different now if we still had the previous language?
