Fdx Cgn secondaries

Fdx Cgn secondaries
Does the awarding of Cgn capt secondaries mean they are going to drain the FDA pop pool? Or is this some contractual magic to avoid paying it by saying there were non excess awards?

I'd like to better understand this subject. Any chance you could explain how 757 captain secondaries eliminates pop? I just read section 24 and can't make any sense out of it. TIA.

My understanding of the subject was if you bid to relieve or were excessed to Cgn on one of the excesses ( the last being the 72 one from last summer) you were put on the virtual training letter(which I have seen but can't find now on the alpa website.). Since you cannot create an excess in an FDA you'd get pass over when your virtual training date passed since there was someone junior to you in that position.
The catch was that guys can leave the FDA without a bid after 2 years and if you were on the pop list you would have to go or return the pass over money if you refused when a spot came open and it was your turn to go.
My question is if they are awarding secondaries on this bid has everyone bid off the virtual training letter? I fully admit to having done 0 research on my own, it was just a question off the top of my head when I saw the practice bid results this morning.

Many people were awarded a HKG Captain position in the last bid and were scheduled for training while many other pilots who were already receiving pass over pay for that position continue to receive pass over pay and were not scheduled to train.

So if someone bid HKG or CGN on this bid or the next in March, they will be at the bottom of the training letter behind all the POP dudes? I'd guess that if awarded one of the FDAs you'd have to wait 12-18 months before you were trained. Am I wrong?

No the new awards will go to training first and the POP pilots will continue to get POP and stay ion their old seats.

POP pilots for FDA's do not have a training date nor do they hold an award to that seat. They must be awarded one as part of an actual bid. If they fail to bid the seat, and could hold one, then there are pay back issues. In the meantime system wide seniority still rules any new awards and people not on POP can get the seats and not affect the POP. Only an excess out of the FDA can cause a reduction of POP pilots is my understanding.
