Lighten up Francis...
Hmm, closed? Did you close it? The last post prior to mine was 9 days ago...is that the limit, then a thread is magically closed?
I didn't see a closed sign before I posted, did you?
I didn't have to use a special code to open, I merely have a simple question.
Why don't you get a little more sleep, get rid of your paranoia and take a closer look at you lanyard, then answer for me why the SEIU logo would be on an ALPA lanyard.

He maybe should have said closed subject instead of closed thread, but no one wants to re-open that mess.

Believe it or not, we are blue collar hourly employees, and members of a trade union. When ALPA contracts out work (like printing lanyards or picket signs or Negotiation Support Team polo shirts), we prefer to use union shops, and the union doing the work puts their "mark" on the product, usually in an inconspicuous place. In this case, the workers who produced the lanyards are members of a huge union, SEIU.
It's doubtful the ladies and gentlemen who printed these lanyards were associated with the ACORN scandal, but, yes, they're in the same union. Just like we were in the same union as our System Chief Pilot until he (according to the report of a block rep) failed to pay dues on a bonus, and ALPA kicked him out.
Apparently, he doesn't mind wearing the darn thing.
If you don't want to display the union bug, put a pin over it, color it with a black Sharpie, or -- a new "twist" I saw last night -- tie a knot in it that covers up the bug. Just wear the lanyard!

"Just wear the lanyard".....
Yes, 'just wear the lanyard' because 'our' union is tone deaf to a large segment of 'our' union that questions -Why??? Whoever thought a YELLOW lanyard with a SEIU logo (which does represent what was once called ACORN) would be a good idea must not have done their homework. Cause God knows the YELLOW color has always been associated with a strong, determined group who have had enough and must be reckoned with....Yellow? Really? How about a bright red one that says CONTRACT NOW!!! And ACORN (SEIU), which includes in their platform a class-less society void of 'cadillac' health care plans and endorsing income redistribution, is what we are hoping for in our next contract, right??? It didn't and still doesn't make sense to me. Our union must use a union supplied vendor, and I understand and support that. But this particular one? At this time? I directly questioned our union reps on these choices and one in particular directly questioned my 'our' union loyalty for questioning these decisions. I simply said, and perhaps echoed common sentiment wondering 'why SEIU'???? It's like going to a Grizzlies basketball game with a Grizzly T-Shirt on but with a Heat logo on it.....doesn't make sense to me? I suggested recalling these lanyards and issuing a more unifying lanyard but...no.
But yah, wear the lanyard.
