Do NOT compare management jobs at other airlines and even the military to the setup we have at brown. Distrust and even hate are the only terms I can think of when it comes to the relationship between the two. ..and I actually like it here. lol
Your relative is a box head (non-airline) and things are a little different there so he/she probably won't truly understand the toxic relationship we have.

Anc74, So your saying that the turnover at UPS is fairly slow compared to the Majors? The seniority issue can be a problem for QOL. However, I was told that UPS compared to the majors is roughly $3M difference in retirement benefits in the long-term. I guess the grass is always greener, however, I just thought that the possibility of getting hired at UPS is better than waiting for 6-12 months for a major to call.
Also, always keep two things in mind with this place-1) they HATE you, and 2) it is not an airline, but a trucking company.

40-50 a year? This upcoming year of 2015, the mandatory retirements is in the Mid Twenty's. 26-28? Mandatory. Which is the only number which is solid. Most Majors and FDX have 20 a Month!! UPS is a Very, Very, Very young airline. Started in 1988. Not 1938. With Zero Aircraft Orders. Zero New Gateways on the Horizon. 40 New Pilots Hired in the Last 7 years should tell you the growth and QOL here.
Enough Said.

That's correct. We have very few retirements per year, compared to the thousands retiring from the major airlines. 40-50 a year retire here for the foreseeable future. No movement, and being junior here is about as bad as it gets anywhere..we do have a very solid union (IPA).
