"CRS may also extend crews in the field (up to 48 hours domestic trip and 96 hours on an international trip) to address operational issues, e.g., extending a healthy crew due to another crew "sick in the field" or to recover freight from a broken airplane or for any other operational reasons. These extensions are focused on protecting our delivery commitments to our customers."
Sec 12.A.8.b
b. maintenance or weather disruptions particular to the pilot's specific flight shall, but only to that limited extent, provide the Company with the ability to exceed the 48/96 hour limit without the pilot's consent.
Unfortuntely I learned about this last year

I was just put into sub on a 40 hour trip for next week. They immediately assigned me a trip right in the middle of the sub window for 20 hours. In this case I'll take the sub since they can't do anything to me before or after the 20 hour trip so I effectively get 40 hours of pay for 20 hours of work...200% gaurantee.
If I decline the trip I get 125% later with OTP. I'm in the long sub window which has a 24 hour cancellation option, after that the trip is yours. I'll admit I read the CBA for at least an hour and then again this morning just to see my options...experience and reading the CBA is king with sub.
And yes you keep the bank.

Obviously he, and his supervisor who told me the same, are incorrect. Still waiting on the email I asked them to send me with the reference to back up their stance.

It's sad, but I've come to expect schedulers to be both ignorant & disingenuous when discussing the CBA
I've also seen a trend where scheduling does not want to properly redesignate a trip as a
RAT trip (ie: the Showtime or Return time changes by more than 4 hrs)
They aren't trying to avoid paying you the 115%, but they are trying to preclude you from declining the RAT trip, which places you into SUB
Then of course, you have all the SUB options we're discussing
It's all about power
When things change, they want to be able to control you like you're on Reserve.
Know the CBA guys --- be polite, ask questions, ask to speak to a supervisor and be respectful but Firm!

Good catch --- I could blame fat fingers on the iPhone, but that error is all me
Double checking the CBA it looks like RAT actually pays the higher of:
- Original trip guarantee at 100% of normal rate
Or
- trip guarantee of the RAT trip at 125% of the normal rate
One issue with RAT trips is that they do NOT qualify for Disruption Pay
I've seen scheduling RAT a trip after Showtime, but before Block Out, to avoid crews from being able to Decline the trip...and avoid paying overage & disruption pay after the trip
Integrity & transparency -- not always their forte
