My first upgrade to Captain was to the B727 almost 16 years after I was hired. That 16 years included around 8 years on furlough.

Buy this guy a steak dinner and a beer! It's refreshing to see that somebody "gets it!"

BRAVO ...

I think that anyone whose had 25 and a half years of flying for pay should be forced to retire, regardless of what age they happen to be at the time. After all, enough is enough, isn't it? You say "age 60 is plenty", but in a lot of cases, guys are no where near 25 years of flying at age 60, so what then? Sounds like you're saying that although you've enjoyed such a long career, you somehow feel that others shouldn't have the same opportunity. Oh, the injustice of it all.

Any changes to the medical has to be applied across the board. How many young guys would be caught in stricter testing? Be careful what you wish for.

You can only play the hand you're dealt. Whining about it won't change anything and makes you look like a spoiled, entitlement generation Biatch.

BTW, virtually all pilots who have had inflight issues have been younger than 60.

Company would not have to fund our retirement plan any more since know hardly anyone will be around to enjoy it!

Their wives don't want them to retire because that would mean they would actually have to put up with the old farts at home. If they work they can just spend their money and not have to deal with their huge egos LOL.

Not so; in Japan they are talking extra medical testing to go to 67. Right now there are different standards in the U.S. for age such as when you have to start getting a EKG.

Most of us FDX FO's are going to make that look like it was a great deal. Now you throw an article up there that looks like more piling on.

BOHICA

Pipe

P.S. - Yes. A large percentage of us hired in the 2000's were furloughed.
