Fedex to Buy TNT
#32
Sooooo......
Right when we are getting into the nitty gritty of contract negotiations, as in mediated talks that might actually end up with numbers of actual money involved...
Boom! We are buying another company!
More international flying! The CGN hub will grow! Shut up and be happy!
Sorry, patches.
You can afford a cash purchase of this airline, then you can afford to pay me more. As in 20% more CASH. Keep my healthcare, retirement and vacation as well. Don't cheap-ass me on my deviation bank month by month, and don't make me play games spreading out stupid new uniform purchases over multiple years. Keep the line guys in the schoolhouse and don't hassle me over calling in sick.
As the great Joe Pesci said in Goodfellas..
******* You - Pay me.

Interesting distraction RIGHT in the middle of Contract Negotiations!*? "A match made in heaven"?
Look at my right hand ... never mind what in my left hand?
First we'll get pay and benefit concessions from the pilots, then we'll "shed" the TNT concept. Then it'll be time for another 5 years of pilot contract negotiations?
Stall, Stall, Stall ...

I don't think (and never thought) "it's all about me."
I've assumed for quite some time that Management has been squeezing the entire organization wherever they can. We've had the opportunity to see how well they handled the winter weather this year! We're hearing about it now because our contract is amendable.
Just last week I stopped at my local FedEx Office to ship a package. I was surprised to hear the Customer Service Rep telling the lady in line in front of me that shipping her package would be VERY expensive "because Hawaii is International and we don't fly there."
I've been out on sick leave for a few months but ... unless things have changed since I last flew to Hawaii (I used to go there frequently!), it sounds like Management is cutting back on their training also?
But ... that same office frequently tells me I can't use my Employee Shipping account unless I have my employee ID with me? And ... I'm not entitled to a FedEx Ground discount? I don't believe either of those things are correct?
Back to the subject ... they have TONS of money and we're entitled to a fair contact in a timely manner.

No.
I just don't believe that this TNT is meant to be a "distraction" because the CBA is in mediation. The comment seemed a bit narcissistic and "black helicopter."
I'm more on Labor's side than most pilots who are barely on their own side and wouldn't lift a finger to help another labor group, but would go hunt for a sharpie in their junk drawer to black out the SEIU emblem on their "unity" lanyard or move their ALPA pin to cover it.

He does, he is ok with it. In his world things are black and white you are either for social justice (as defined by them) or you hate the poor, blacks, gays, Palestinians, women... Pick your identity group.
