I don't think it really matters to be honest, but I'd say they value left seat cargo time more.

Honestly I don't think it really matters. Flying Ability, drive, study habits, and good attitude have been the main difficulties of candidates in the past. (shocker) Figure out if the schedule is ok to you, throw an app and rock the interview. Come into training with no BS attitude and you'll do great. You will be given all the resources you need to succeed. Some of the best candidates coming through the program have 0 jet time. The two recent best have had under 2000 hours of total time.

Having flown in the Air Force, at WGA, and now at a Major airline I can honestly say some of the best pilots are freight dogs. There is way more to getting the job done on the road than just the flying part. And that's the part I miss and don't miss.

^^^Listen to this guy. He went from having only flown a King Air to the left seat of an MD-11 in less than a year. Upgrade at WGA is based on performance alone. If you can show a great understanding of the MD-11 and international ops with a natural PIC attitude you will do just fine and upgrade quick. Just be eager to learn and soak up everything the old freight dogs have to share.

I have an interview coming up quick at WGA.
Can anyone give me some insight into what I should be doing to prepare?
Are there any technical areas I should be focusing on studying?
What AC is the Sim Ride done in? What are they looking for?
Having done a skype interview, is there more HR related questions or more tech related questions at the in person interview.
I am prepared for the basics: FAR/AIM, Standard HR questions, jeps, etcetera and I've been flying the AC I currently fly by hand exclusively and raw data the past few days in anticipation of the Sim Ride looking for simply basic instrument flying skills but some form of specific focus or direction for my studies would be priceless.
Thank you in advance

I would show up in a "wife beater" and have a big dip of chew in.. If you do that, they'll probably hire you on the spot and let you skip the sim ride. I'm not even kidding, I know a guy who used to work there who sported the "beater" and pinky ring all the time... He has since moved on though.. LOL
