Get over myself? I don't have anything to do with this, and I really dont mean to sound as if I hate the pilots at ATI or dont want anything to do with them- the exact opposite is the case. I wish we all worked together. Doh seniority list merge, i dont care... sign me up. Just get us together so we can move forward as a whole and make this place a good place to be. I would have zero issue with joining ati if abx was dismantled and a great contract magically fell from the sky, but that aint happening, and you are dreaming if you think thats where your leadership is guiding you right now.

The problem isnt the pilots, the problem is the way atsg and ati management *and* alpa leadership are working together to make sure we are the lowest paid acmi- you guys are being drug along for the ride and that really sucks... but it would be ridiculous to not warn people of what they are signing up for at ati right now. I dont have a problem with you or anyone else working the line at ati, but your company as a whole is being used as the worst kind of wedge and people who care about the industry and the union strength required to get industry standard pay and work rules should *not* be going to ati right now. If they do, fine, i understand people have their reasons and I have no grudge with anyone who signs up there. Im just here to remind people what is happening and that there are lots of other much better jobs out there.

Fair enough, so forgive me for getting defensive. But I have to ask, how is ALPA leadership working "with" ATI and ATSG management to keep us in the mud? I sure don't see it, but these claims just keep popping up!

There's a particularly great post in either an Atlas or a K4 thread (and not too far back, either) that describes why some are or at least feel "stuck". In simple terms, I'm one of them. I have no intent to start over at the bottom of another list at this point in my life, no matter how green that grass may be, unless I have to. And even then, I've entertained just jumping ship entirely at times and finding something else to do. Flying has devolved into something that just isn't what I grew up and fell in love with. So I'm supporting making ATI a much better place, rather than seeing or letting it wither. Why shouldn't a new hire have the same desire or hope? Some come on board simply for the type and time to help them move on. But not all. Of course we won't get a purple CBA. No one here is that delusional. But for cryin' out loud, we aren't at the bottom, and from where we currently sit, we are either going UP or out. I vote UP!

Yep, I was a bit of a "late termer", and arrived on the doorstep just after they stopped placing folk in the DC-8s. You had already moved on by then. The 707s were parked (I got my type and time in the jet elsewhere), although a few languished with the snails still proudly humping on the tail in various corrosion corners here and there. I actually wanted to fly them, and that they had 707s at the time was the basis how SAT got my attention. I did get to enjoy the Whale, though, so it wasn't all bad. But I did find that I could have made more take-home pay as a seasonal UPS driver than I did flying a 747 around the world.

Reports of sightings of Amazon branded containers on their way to the DHL sort in CVG to be ready for the May 1 startup. ABX and ATI crews need to be on the lookout for DHL volume being co-mingled with Amazon volume in Amazon containers. This will be a violation of ABX scope.

Woog,

I gotta echo what 707 said here.

I came on with ATI in '09 after the DHL debacle after 14 years there. I am and will be forever thankful to the ATI group for bringing me on and being accepted into the ATI family. And that's how I view this place, it's my extended family. And like any family, we are very protective of our culture and our people. No family likes, nor deserves, to be dictated to or told how they should operate or what's good for them.

You are absolutely correct when you say "it just makes sense" to coordinate as a whole. But the word "coordination" implies a two way street. At no time whatsoever did we feel there was that feeling. We were being dictated to how we should operate and being told "what was good for us". And when we rebuffed those "suggestions" we were told "we (your EXCO) are going to scope you (ATI) out of existence". Your EXCO's words, not ours.

Now you tell me, does that sound like someone who has our best interest at heart???

You say, as others on this board, that our MEC is selling us out. Well you might see it that way. But we see it as they have protected us from a very hostile group intent on destroying our culture and our jobs. Like 707 had said, a lot of us are at a point in our careers where leaving is not the best option. So we have made a decision to fight for what we believe is an Industry Standard Contract that supports our culture and not someone else's idea of what is good for us.

Because inevitably, it is us that has to live and work under this contract, not you.

With respect,

FAJ

The cans are to facilitate a daytime Amazon sort when that starts, as well as the other benefits of cans over military pallets, although there will be no sort on May 1. Amazon is not so dumb to start a new procedure at the same time they start a new location.

Really, guys, I don't believe that Amazon has any plans to carry any DHL cans or freight. Seriously.

At least from the publicly-available documents I have read, that particular scope issue is far from crystal-clear and thus may benefit from clarification in arbitration/mediation, but I still don't think that Amazon would want to do anything at transition time to screw up their own operation any more than hiring DHL to do the cross-dock and (ultimately) sort may do.

Signed up 2 months ago. Has 61 posts across multiple forums on this board.
This sounds an awful lot like something the "Brain" from "Memphis" would post.

Gee.... That sounds like what your (Asstar) MEC was telling ABX's Exco right after DPWN purchased ABF. Now your shoe is on the other foot.
