Airlines have to grant crews with 2 week PAID leaves, (accruing vacation, etc) when in quarantine (COVID-19 positive or suspected positive) based on the 14 days self quarantine CDC guidance. No airline is forcing any pilot to fly...because there are no flights to operate! Hate to say it, but the industry is now overstaffed. So Swift is doing the right thing because they have no other choice.

They aren't just accruing vacation during the two paid leaves. Anyone who takes the LOAs will accrue their normal vacation time during their 30/60 day voluntary LOA. They made that clear to us multiple times in the conference calls. If you take a 60 day LOA you accrue your standard vacation during that time. It isn't stopped after two weeks.

Well now….Major Airlines have hundreds if not thousands of aircraft and crews idle. Legacy carriers have only allowed Charter Companies to operate because major airlines could use their aircraft for other more lucrative opportunities. However, things have changed. All airlines will pursue any revenue like a pack of wolves after some prey. And being the wolves that they are they will run off the small weaker predators. Good luck !

The majors already do charters. That’s nothing new. Delta does the NBA and some nhl too, that’s working out just as good as it is for us right now.

They’ll never bid for DHS because it would be controversial work for their image and I’m sure they don’t want to leave the table empty for other federal opportunities by refusing other government dollars.

Our first 2 cargo planes for DHL look like are flying here in a week. That just opens up our variety and financial footprint. June will tell a lot on what returns immediately.

90 days ago, I would have agreed. Today Airlines are burning through 40-60 million a day. Several have ramped up their belly freight options and are considering cutting doors and floors in their already stagnant fleet for cargo operations. Stockholders want return on their money, and like bill collectors they are banging on the door. “I want my money and I want it now!! “Any revenue is better than no revenue, be it freight, charter, passengers, scheduled or not. Their Image is the last on the list. Beware of the wolves.

I don't see the pax carriers as a huge problem as far as freight goes...when the economy finally reflects this recession...even the cargo airlines will be parking aircraft and furloughing. Once everyone has a supply of toilet paper and face masks....freight will taper off.

He’s trying to have a life and I think step over to training. That will all depend on how a new CP survives swift politics.
