Scheduling Committee?
It was interesting in the conference call they made it out like home basing was a favor from management to the pilot group. They tried in 2018 to make AEX a base and it flopped. People couldn't get there. We don't have Jump Seat privileges on Delta. Making that flying home based was a necessity for the company. Now people have to commute to SAT, AEX, BRO, LAS, and probably CVG soon. We have 11 days off. If Someone has to commute on their days off they loose a lot of time and the company gains a lot of time. The company can work you at 5 am on the first day of a rotation without having to travel you in. If these lines out of our new domiciles are not adjusted to 14 or 15 off the pilots are going to loose a lot of free time and the company is going to gain a ton of availability. About 4 days per month per pilot. This is at a time when they absolutely don't need that productivity.
I don't know who will be running this scheduling committee but I have some serious questions.
How many days off will we have?
Will we be put on a 15 on and 14 off? That would be fair and a commuter would only have to commute once a month.
How much time will be in each of these lines? If I can break guarantee in one domicile but not another I want that domicile.
We probably wont see another standing bid until this company is in a full on hiring crisis though.

The hiring crisis is over for good, or at least for a long time. With all the furloughs that are about to be coming this fall, they will not have any trouble finding people who need a job. The company is saving money by not having to worry about getting people to work, or get them home after the rotation is over. They didn't do this when the labor market was tight, now when they know people have no where to leave to anymore for a long time, they can do what they want. I mean, what else did you expect from them?
Well then there’s always the unemployment line. When only 1/3 of the airline is flying and income is limited cutting costs is essential to survival. Home basing costs the company buku money, least a good 3-4K per pilot a month. Right now there’s limited flying as it’s only happening from our ICE bases. So their cost savings is to make them fixed bases as it’s predicted flying.
Aex was supposed to be a base years ago when we lost sat. Nobody but one pilot bid for aex. Back then we were short people and no staffing to push anyone to aex. The company made the decision to turn it into home based flying.
It’s a crappy thing, but the company is trying to survive. They haven’t received any money from the government, who knows if they will, haven’t seen them pop up in the list of carriers. If they can save hundreds of thousands a month to keep everyone employed they will.
At least as a group were trying to come together and create commuter schedules as for the first time in a long time we will become an airline full of commuters. It’s not going to work for everyone and it’s unfortunate. We all have worked hard to all be on the street. If we can work the schedules to bunch work days together then pilots can maximize their off time without losing too many to commute to base.
The company is still providing 2 weeks of hotels and travel to those pilots to accommodate to base. They did the same for the flight attendants.
I know we will survive, but it’s going to be a rough ride till we return to normal. We probably won’t see normality till fall.

Happened inflight, no way to know in flight. Very lucky and fortunate. Not sure if there’s an AD or anything for that component, especially since Boeing has had issues with NGs too over pickle forks on the wings as well.

It’s still an option, but will take you a long time to hold it now. Only a total of 50 pilot positions on this bid for it. Most junior home base FO is a May 2019 hire. Most junior CA Jan 2018 hire in home basing.
Big change from when we were in super high demand and it all came to a screeching halt in a few days time. Sad reality, can only hope it returns to normal as home basing does a lot of the lifting when everything is normal.
