I know very little about Eastern but the rumor is that they’re buying my company. Can anyone give me some idea of what I’m in for if I end up being an Eastern employee? PM if you aren’t comfortable posting here. Thanks.

SO if you have an interview with Eastern here’s what to expect: Me and about 12 other guys were invited to an open interview at paramount aviation in Miami Fl. It was for strictly eastern Air Express hiring for the 737. Range of experience no one under 3000 hours, some former Spirit and Swift Captains. Total of 3 people interviewing us , 2 pilots and a not very nice acting woman from HR. SO the interview is all personality based with technical questions thrown in. Some got Captain wants to land outside of the FAF and a tower reports weather below mins - where is the FAF on an ILS or Captain is mad you called for a go around after he said continue without having the airport in sight - when and how would you debrief him? Went over resume and work history so be sure to bring log books, pilot license, medical. You pass that you’ll get to the HR lady.

She comes across as nice but she looks at guys with a mean face, so if she means you you’re not getting hired. At her interview she will hint you got the job by telling you expect to hear from me at the end of the week. If you don’t get that, you didn’t get it. Also she is very short with guys she’s not going to hire I’m talking maybe 1 or 2 questions like TMAAT you had a difficult passenger or Why Eastern? Afterwards your work history and if she isn’t interested in you she will literally roll her eyes at you make faces then quickly dismiss you. The 2 pilots were very professional and should have been the one making the hiring decisions but her? Yea I think Eastern needs someone who knows what professionalism is and means.

It’s a low threat interview honestly and they want some recency of experience. They said at 1 time they were hiring 1500 hour CFI’s since things had gotten tight for them but now it appears they can be choosy. You can expect a lot of charter flights (deportation) and a few other charters though not many. KCM yes no Cass so you will have to relocate. It’s a tough market out there, met more than a few guys from Spirit and other pilots who recently lost thier jobs who have been unemployed for over a year.
Hope this helps someone. I didn’t make it but had some really good guys there that didn’t make it either. One guy a current Captain at a regional felt he was treated like garbage. I don’t know his story since he didn’t really detail it before he left. Well hope this able to help someone,

Take Care

Forgot to mention this information pertains to Eastern Air Express ONLY, not their mainline carrier.

It's called an adversarial interviewer. It's a style/tactic. She probably cycles or they have their "orders" each group on what they're doing. Better luck next round.

I guess. But why would HR be adversarial? Some people she was nice to, others she wasn’t. That is a very curious tactic.

Its a common tactic used during interviews across a variety of industries. Companies do it to throw you off and see how you handle it. Sure, it sucks, but it happens all the time.

Default Eastern Air Express...

...is actually who's hiring right now. Yes, it's the same parent company but different certificate/operation/pay, etc.

Maybe someone that know about them can get another thread going? Not listed as a profile either.
