Because working gives people a sense of worth. Being forced out of something you worked for your whole life because you got older is a horrible feeling, just ask my father. Now, if you are no longer medically qualified or capable, well, that is a whole different story. But you shouldn't be expected to quietly submit and walk off into the sunset because some 19 year old kid wants your job in the nice shiny jet. The young sing this tune now because I guess they feel like they will never get old...but their tone will change as they mature.

Wow....I can't believe the self-entitled people on this forum. Apparently nobody here ever learned anything from their elders in the industry. Also, I guess the lot of you are never planning on aging and one day being on the other end of this. I didn't know they invented a perpetual youth cream, I guess I should invest. By the way, before any assumptions are made, I am 32 years old, a regional pilot, this is my second career, and I know NOTHING is owed to me because I worked for every opportunity. And if I can still find the drive to keep working when I am 65 then I will. Too many self entitled youth these days, I swear......

People should not look for sympathy from those who have watched their career stall at a go-nowhere regional because of age 65.
In addition, many of those who benefitted from age 65 are from the same group who have been selling out scope by the bucket load over the last decade.
Nice legacy to leave!

Pretty sure the OP is hanging out over at JC.com, freekin hilarious that there was not a single response from MASSPILOT to any of you guys...Everything I know about flying an airplane is directly attributed to an "old guy" or a soon to be "old guy"...Maybe if one of you hooked him up with a C-90 job buzzing around NE in between rounds of golf, he would of walked your resume into his "bar lowering" former airline...Jeeeez
